to illustrate my strengths as well as my development of skill. The design process for me always begins with logic; what makes sense with the given program and current site conditions. This is done through diagramming, precedent study, and/or speculation. I conclude my portfoliowith photography from two study abroad trips. Since my first trip in 2008, I have been on a journey to find what I am passionate about and what I want to spend my life exploring. After five years of college, I have realized my interest in interiors and wish to pursue this path after completion of my undergraduate degree.

Personal StatementEnclosed are five studio projects completed during my undergraduate study at the School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation. Each project was chosen

SPATIALIZED SURFACESmorphology

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:Explore space through the development of form. Manipulate spatialized surfaces to create a pattern revealing a path of discovery

DESIGN STRATEGIES:Arrange the spatialized surfaces from smallest scale to largest scaleVolume created acts as a gradientUse ocean waves as precedent inspiration

_the rhythmic pattern of waves approaching the shore creates a series of light and dark volumes

_I replicated the dense wave crests with large scale models and the sparse wave troughs with small scale models

_the pattern can be interpreted as waves, a series of volumes or as compression and expansion, all of which are architectural techniques

France_is when I first realized I view the built environment differently than most. I noticed details and structure that my peers did not. Unknowingly, I was thinking logically and architecturally. It would not be until my second year of college that I would realize this would be my course of study and career path for the future.

Italy_broadened my architectural understanding of famous works I had been studying in school. My appreciation and understanding of architecture history was taken to a whole new level.
