STATE PERENNIAL BLOOM Dessie Moxley Dessie Moxley has been a Garden Club member in District V for over 40 years.

She has served on the Board of her Club in virtually every capacity, including President. Dessie also has been active in the FGCMD – Director of District V, 1981 – 1983; served on the FGCMD Board since 1976, including holding offices of 1st & 2nd Vice President, and President, and is still currently on the Board; was on the NGC Board 1991 – 1997. She is an Accredited Master Judge and a Life Member of FGCMD. Dessie also serves as a Perennial Bloom in all the associations she has volunteered.

Awarded During the State Annual Business Meeting continued PRESIDENTIAL AWARD Diana Bonner/Ann Christ This Presidential Award is presented to Diana Bonner and Ann Christ for

initiating the first Landscape Design School Course I, in several years. Marie Davis This Presidential Award is presented to Marie Davis for Co-chairing the

FGCMD Awards Committee, and co-creating a State Awards Manual. Jenny Henry This Presidential Award is presented to Jenny Henry for your enthusiasm in

promoting the Youth Awards in Maryland, and for your persistence in having the CAR High School Essay reviewed after the CAR Conference. Thanks to you we won!

Terry Holman This Presidential Award is presented to Terry Holman, for stepping into the

National and Regional Chairmanship void and for your hard work in soliciting and receiving the applications for the CAR “Rally Our Region Award.” Not only did we have the most entries but we had the Regional winner!

Frances Huber This Presidential Award is presented to Frances Huber, a Halten Garden

Club member for 52 years. An avid Horticulturist, an Emeritus NGC Flower Show Judge, she has served in every capacity for her club and has been a mentor to anyone who has asked.

Barbara Whited This Presidential Award is presented to Barbara Whited with appreciation

for the past two years of organizing and structuring the FGCMD Annual Meetings.

MEMBER AWARD OF HONOR Jill Breen In honor and appreciation of Jill Breen and her 20 years of membership and

constant support of club, district and state activities. A Life member of FGCMD and NGC, she has served as chair on many club and district committees. She is passionate about youth involvement as well as historic landmarks – Paca House and Hammond-Harwood House.

AWARD OF ACHIEVEMENT Sylvia Deck/Susan Palmer This Award of Achievement is being presented to Susan Palmer and Sylvia

Deck for their leadership of the State Flower Show “Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow.” Their tireless energy and their continued dedication to the goals and objectives of the FGCMD is very much appreciated.

Claire Jones This Award of Achievement is being presented to Claire Jones for Chairing

and actively promoting the NGC Bee Gap Project in Maryland and for her forethought in developing our Social Media for the FGCMD.

Marilyn Potter/Lisette Schmitz This Award of Achievement is presented to Marilyn Potter and Lisette

Schmitz for their vision, enthusiasm, planning and perseverance in establishing the State Horticulture Day. A highly affordable program filled with a variety of speakers and activities, it was a memorable day for all participants.

AWARD OF ACHIEVEMENT continued Susie Middleton This Award of Achievement is being presented to Susie Middleton for the

creative “Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow” schedule she wrote and her organizational skills of co-creating a State Awards Manual and Co-chairing the FGCMD Awards Committee.

JoEllen Youngblood This Award of Achievement is being presented to JoEllen Youngblood for

the energy and enthusiasm she has brought to the role of Web Manager for the State. Since 2013, she has redesigned and categorized our state website, making it easier to

access information. CITATION Linda Masland This Citation is presented to Linda Masland for her continued dedication to

the FGCMD. Her work for the betterment of this organization cannot be overstated. She donates countless hours to her garden club, District III and the Federation. Linda‘s service on the Board began in 2001 and is still providing very valued service. Not knowing how to say no – she continues to be our go to member!

Tina Swanson This Citation is presented to Tina Swanson for her continued commitment

to editing the Gardenews for the FGCMD over the last six years. Since 2009, she has been editor of our state newsletter, and in July of 2010 launched our first GREEN edition, available online at the fgcofmd.org website. The possibilities of color, more information and unlimited pages finally came to Maryland. She won a First Place NGC Publication State Newsletter Award in 2012. We cannot thank Tina enough for making our tri-annual communications piece the outstanding publication it is today.

AWARD OF APPRECIATION Jay Plummer In appreciation for Jay Plummer’s many years of support in promoting and

encouraging membership in the Federated Garden Clubs of Maryland, through horticulture and floral demonstrations, a combined District’s flower show, information booths at the MD Home and Garden Shows, and an entry in a July 4th Parade in Severna Park.

Bill Meyers In appreciation for Bill Meyers’ expertise and commitment to the Federated

Garden Club of Maryland’s state project, the Conservatory Palm House Doors Project. His tireless effort in preparing the Scope of Work, reviewing contracts and overseeing the fabrication, removal and installation has assured the Federated was well represented and that work was successfully completed under his guidance.

PRESIDENTIAL AWARD

Bruce Webster/Bozy Markiewicz This Presidential Award is presented to Bruce Webster, Superintendent of the Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery in Hurlock. Bruce has tree-scaped the Cemetery; created a MIA Memorial Garden; and has worked with District I and the FGCMD Chair, Bozy Markiewicz, in promoting and growing “Wreaths Across America” program each of the six years they have partnered.

Hal Handley This Presidential Award is presented to my Secretary, Chauffeur, Gofer,

Chef, Banker, Toter, Best Friend and Partner. Without you, I never could have accomplished all that we have as a Federation. My sincere appreciation - thank you!
