After the Activity: “Water was an important part of our Bible lesson today. Do you remember what happened? (Pause.) Yes! You are right! Jesus used it to make a super fancy party drink. Jesus can do ANYTHING because Jesus is God’s Son. It’s true! Who can do anything? Jesus can do anything!”

Mommy Says Big Idea: Play a traditional game of Simon Says but make sure to include the Bottom Line. What You Need: No supplies needed What You Do: Before the Activity: Have the children stand in front of you. During the Activity: Tell the children to mimic your movements only if you say, “Mommy says,” before you do the movement. First say, “Mommy says,” and blink your eyes. The children should blink their eyes. Then do not say anything and touch your nose. If any of the children touch their nose, remind them that they should only do the movements when you say, “Mommy says.” Continue the activity with the following movements making sure to ask the children to say the Bottom Line several times throughout the game: wiggle your ears, stick out your tongue, touch your toes, hands in the air, and silly dancing. What You Say: Before the Activity: “Do I have any good listeners here today? (Pause.) Oh! I thought so! I bet you are all excellent listeners. And I bet you always… listen to what your Mommy says!” During the Activity: “Today we are going to play a game and I am going to do a movement and I want you to do it too, but ONLY if you hear me say, ‘Mommy says,’ first. If I do not say, ‘Mommy says,’ then you do not do it. Are you ready?” (Do activity.) After the Activity: “Great job listening! It is very important to listen to our Mommies. Today we heard a Bible lesson about Jesus and His mother, Mary. Jesus did something His Mommy asked him to do. Do you remember what it was? (Pause.) Yes, you are right! Jesus used water to make a super fancy party drink because His Mommy asked Him to. Jesus can do ANYTHING because Jesus is God’s Son. It’s true! Who can do anything? Jesus can do anything!”

Memory Verse Hop Big Idea: Children will practice their memory verse as they jump back and forth from the blue and red jugs. What You Need: “Jug” Activity Page, red cardstock (1 piece of each per child), blue cardstock (1 piece per child), and floor tape What You Do: Before the Activity: Copy the “Jug” Activity Page onto the red and blue cardstock. You will need one red and one blue jug per child. Lay out the pieces of paper on the floor in an open area of the room with a red piece within hopping distance of a blue piece. Secure them with floor tape. During the Activity: Encourage the children to spread out and stand behind one set of “jugs.” Review this month’s memory verse as they hop from one color to the other. Repeat as time and interest allow. What You Say: Before the Activity: “This month we’ve been learning: With God all things are possible, Matthew 19:26.” During the Activity: “Do you see these jugs on the floor? (Point.) I want you to jump on the color I call out and say the verse with me. Ready? Jump to the blue jug. With God all things are possible, Matthew 19:26. Awesome. Now jump to the red jug. With God all things are possible, Matthew 19:26.” After the Activity: “That was super fun jumping from jug to jug! Jesus did something amazing at the wedding that day. But that’s not surprising, because we know that Jesus can do anything. Who can do anything? Jesus can do anything!”

Fill each cup half full of water and place them on the tables. Leave three or four cups empty at the end of the table. During the Activity: Point out all the cups as you fill the last few with water from the pitcher. Then pass out a bath tablet to each child and encourage them to drop their tablets into their cups and watch what happens. Talk about what they see. What You Say: Before the Activity: (As you’re filling the last few cups with water) “In our Bible lesson today, the people at the wedding were thirsty. Jesus started out with water like this (point), but then He did something amazing. I want you to put one of these (hold up) special bath tablets into your cup and watch what happens!” After the Activity: “What happened to your water? (Pause for answers.) Yes! It changed colors. But remember, Jesus didn’t need a big bag of bath tablets to change the water. He changed the water to a super fancy party drink, because Jesus can do anything! Who can do anything? Jesus can do anything!”

Mother, May I? Big Idea: Children will play a fun game of Mother, May I. What You Need: Floor tape What You Do: Before the Activity: Place a strip of tape on one end of the activity area. Place a second strip about 20 feet directly in front of the first strip. These will be your starting and finish lines. During the Activity: Have the children line up horizontally on the starting line. Start with one child and give them a number and a movement to do (such as three jumps). Before the child moves, ask them to say, “Mother, may I?” Say, “Yes, you may,” and have the child do the movements. Repeat with all of the children with different numbers and movements. Examples of movements: jumps, baby steps, marching, one-leg hops, giant steps, and walking on tippy toes. Try to keep the numbers under five. Repeat the activity until a child reaches the finish line. What You Say: Before the Activity: “We are going to play a game.” During the Activity: “Everyone stand on this line. (Point.) I am going to give you a movement and tell you how many times to do it. If I say do three jumps, you will do this. (Demonstrate.) Before you do your movements, you need to ask, ‘Mother, may I?’ Are you ready?” (Do activity.) After the Activity: “Great job listening! It is very important to listen to our mommies. Today we heard a Bible lesson about Jesus and His mother, Mary. Jesus did something His Mommy asked him to do. Do you remember what it was? (Pause.) Yes, you are right! Set out the red and purple crayons in the center of the tables. What You Say: Before the Activity: “In our Bible lesson today, Jesus did something SO amazing. He turned regular water into a super fancy party drink. Jesus can do anything!” During the Activity: (Pass out the “Empty Jars” pages to each child.) “First, let’s color in each of the jars with these red/purple crayons. Then I will help you tape these water pages over the jars to look like the water.” After the Activity: (Hold up one of the completed pages.) “These look awesome! I want you to take your pictures home and tell your family all about how Jesus turned this plain water (lift the flap to show the colored jars) into a super fancy party drink. Jesus can do anything. Small Group Time What you Need: Parent Take Home Card, Playdoh, People Cookie Cutters, Rolling Pins, and Sticker Roll SMALL GROUP LEADER (SGL): “It’s Small Group time! Since our Bible lesson was about how Jesus can do anything, I want you to walk to our Small Group spot any way you want. Think about how you want to walk to our Small Group spot, and when I say, ‘Follow me,’ start walking any way you want. It can be ANYTHING! (Help the children choose a way to walk if they can’t think of a way.) Okay, friends, follow me! (Lead the children to your small group spot.) Those were some fun ways to walk. Now let’s sit down so we can talk about our lesson today. One, two, three, sit down with me!” “In our lesson today, Jesus did something only He can do. He turned the water into a super fancy party drink when the people at the wedding party ran out. Can you (point to children) change water into another kind of drink? (Pause.) No way! Only Jesus can do that, because Jesus can do anything! Who can do anything?” CHILDREN and SGL: “Jesus can do anything!” “Now it’s time to pray. When I say your name I want you to tell me one thing you need help with. We can use the list when we pray to God. We tell God what we need because with God all things are possible. AND God gave us Jesus to be our friend forever. AND Jesus can do anything! Those are some great reasons to talk to God. So, when I say your name, tell me one thing you need help with. “Ok, it’s time to review our lesson. I am going to ask you some questions and you will get a sticker for answering them. I have some really cool stickers today. Are you ready? (Pause.) Great! (Ask the children the questions from the “Parent Take Home Cards”. You can also make up additional questions from our video lesson. Don’t forget to ask them to say their memory verse for another sticker. You can repeat the same questions over and over as repetition is good for preschoolers.) You are such great listeners!” “Now I’ll pray before it’s time to say goodbye until next week.”
