As we all know, 2020 was a wackyyear with many challenges and griefand loss of time with friends andfamily, but there were also hadopportunities. It has been a time forall of us to reevaluate what matters

and focus our energies in areas that mean the most to us. Weall finally learned how to properly wash our hands (!!) andwhere in our homes to store 20 extra rolls of toilet paper. Ilearned to use Zoom with the granddaughters in Boise. Weare reading together once or twice a week and husband Mikeis joining us for the adventures of Charlotte and her web andWilbur the “radiant” pig! I also finally figured out what to dowith Wonder Clips - setting those pesky pleats in face masks!

Shops and guilds are still scaled back but are anticipating anexciting 2021. The regional shops are having interesting andsocially-distant classes. Continue to support our local shops. All are open and have online shopping!

Members and friends in the NW region took the placematchallenge to heart last month and delivered many placemats toSenior Centers around the basin. They were well received andbrought color and humor to many folks. Thanks to all whoparticipated. Funny story: Barbara Graham of Cody delivereda stack of placemats to the Cody Senior Center and was toldthat they really needed 170 more…the staff had been talkingwith another group that also was delivering placemats! Shehad six in her stack!

From Betty Shem in BasinHere's a picture of me getting ready todeliver placemats to our Senior Center

here in Greybulltoday. Nine ofus made 104placemats togive out withthe meals onwheels lunchesin the Greybull,Basin area. I sent out the call forthe placemats. We needed at least80, so we are pleased with theresults from our call out for an "actof kindness" in our area. Have agreat Holiday!!

I am hoping to have my Spring retreat April 7-11 at theHoliday Inn in Cody, depending totally on the current COVIDprecautions and protocols. Because of the tentative status ofthis retreat, I will not open registration until March 1.

Best wishes for a great start for 2021 for everyone, be positiveand creative and keep your needles threaded!

    Happy stitching, Michelle Quick

CentralJulie HaptonstallHello from Central! As I writethis article my head is spinning, Iam packing to fly to Florida tospend time at the beach, relax,

and maybe visit a quilt store or two. Before I go play, letssee what is happening in Central Wyoming!

Lickety Stitch Quilts - LuskLickety Stitch Quilts in Lusk is open for customers,Monday-Friday 9:00-5:00 p.m., Saturday 9:00-4:00 p.m.They will be resuming classes in the store in January andhave some online classes planned for the new year. Sign upfor their newsletter from the home page of their website,www.licketystitchquilts.com, and follow them on Facebookto get the latest news of classes, sales, new products, andupcoming events. You will also get a free quilt patternemailed to you just for signing up! During December, everypurchase or order valued at $25 or over received a fun giftincluded in their package. Need a break from being homealone? They are scheduling two or three customers at a timefor Sewing Days in their classroom – a chance to makefriends or share a sewing day with friends as well as get helpwith projects if needed. Call them at 307-334-9963 toreserve a spot.

Never Sweat Needlers Quilt Guild - DuboisThey are sad to report that their "token male", Bill Lonn, passed away from COVID virus in December. They saidthey shall miss his smile, sense of humor, and picture takingof their quilts at their monthly meetings and annual shows. He was very active as an officer at the High Country SeniorCenter. He enjoyed interviewing students, reporting onschool events in Dubois, and was the organist at the Mt.Calvary Lutheran Church in Dubois.

At their December meeting(Christmas Party) new SecretQuilters and Birthday Blockparticipants were chosen. Theyenjoyed a delicious mealcatered by Connie's Cooking, followed by a fun-filled "grab-bag" session with some veryoriginal and unusual gifts! They were appreciative ofeverything received.

January means they will get serious with the "Paint Chip"President's Challenge project, their "Mystery Quilt" (stepfive coming up!), and their UFO projects. Many of theladies don’t have a shop at their backdoor and have todepend on the internet and the U.S. Mail to get their fabrics,

etc. They admit to being a bitfrustrated at the "backorders"and length of delivery time. They assured me that eventhough the Dubois quilters arefrustrated, they shall survive!

They sent me a beautifulpicture of their Christmas treecollection and grab-bag gifts. Itwas created by Candy Good. . .note the miniature quilt blockornaments. Everyone came infestive attire, didn't they?

Stitches n’ Time - Douglas/GlenrockThe girls enjoyed aquiet morning thispast weekend. Theymade some greatUSB organizers. They also celebratedthree members'birthdays withbrownie sundaes!YUMMY!

PHD Quilters - DouglasIn December, they got together to enjoy some scrumptiousfood. The group did a gift exchange and each person thatwanted to participate brought a gift. A Christmas story wasread. Every time the story said ‘right’, the gift was passed tothe right, and when ‘left’ was said, the gift was passed to theleft. They also played a game of LRC with $1 bills.

I really hope and pray that you all stay safe and well. Bustout those stashes!!

    Mental Health Gatherings!

Since the cold weather andCOVID quarantines have set in,

many of us are craving personal contact. In Cheyenne, we have asmall group of quilters that have come together to spend a day ortwo filling the need for in person socializing. In this small group,we have seasoned quilters, newbies, embroidery fanatics and handsewers. What we have in common is the desire to spend time withother artisans. I highly recommend small group gathering withfriends and family just to get even a few minutes of in personsocialization. Think about supporting your local quilt shop byattending their classes. Most of those are small classes.

Speaking of gatherings, the Southeast Region will be hosting it’sSpring Retreat from March 5-7 at LCCC. Di Wilsey-Geer will beteaching two one-day technique classes that don’t need any specialtools. The retreat will cost $55 for WSQG members and theclasses will be $15 each or $25 for both.
