REFLECTION Ash Wednesday is a solemn day, the beginning of our Lenten journey with our Savior to His cross and empty tomb. Thus Lent also reminds us of our earthly journey, from natural birth and rebirth in Holy Baptism, through all the events of our lives, and finally to the in-heritance prepared for us in heaven. May God graciously and abundantly give us His Holy Spirit that we grow this Lent in our yearning for home and our love for Jesus. To impress upon us the solemnity of this day, our service begins in silence. “Be still and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10).
