1 Conferences: Second semester conferences will be held on Wednesday, February 6, 3:30-6:30; Thursday, February 7, 1:00-7:00; and Friday, February 8, 1:00-3:30. Students will be released at 12:00 on THURSDAY, February 7, and FRIDAY, February 8. Teachers have already sent home conference preference sheets and are in the process of confirming specific dates and times for individual conferences. If you have not been notified about of your scheduled date and time for conferences, please contact your child’s team of teachers or call the school office! Foundation/PTSO/Site Council: Mark your calendars!! Our next Foundation meeting is sched- uled for Tuesday, February 12 at 6:00 p.m . The next PTSO/Site Council meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, February 12, at 7:00 in the Robinson cafeteria! We hope you will be able to join us! All School Dance/Party: Our next All School Dance/Party is scheduled for Friday, February 22, 6:00-8:00 p.m. Our theme will be Glow in the Dark. Dance/Party tickets can be purchased at lunch time for $5.00 the week of the dance (a current student i.d. is required). Tickets purchased on February 20 will be sold at a discounted price of $4.00. Students cannot attend the dance if they are on the RAM List (have 3 or more Ds or Fs), so encourage your student to get all missing work turned in ASAP. Parent volunteers will be needed to help sell tickets at lunch time the week of the dance and to help chaperone the night of the dance. Please let us know if you are able to help! State Assessments: At conferences, you will receive a calendar showing the exact days your student will be taking their State Assessments in March and April. It is imperative that your students are here on their testing days! Trying to schedule make-up testing sessions for 785 kids is a huge challenge! If your student has to miss school, please use the testing calendar to schedule appointments accordingly. We appreciate your cooperation!! Pre-IB Applications: Pre-IB applications are available for the 2019-20 school year. If you or anyone you know are interested in the Pre-IB Program, applications and supporting documents can be found on our website www.usd259.org/robinson All application materials are due on Monday, February 4. 6th GRADE - THE SUPREME TEAM

MATH, Ms. Johnson and Mr. AdamsonIn math class our 6th grade students will be exploring Algebraic expression andequations! Our focus is on learning to use Order Of Operations or PEMDAS to solve multi-stepexpressions and equations with 1 or more variable. We will quickly be moving into graphingour equations and seeing how we can use the graphed function to solve our answers!

In Honors Math class we are rapidly approaching the end of our 6th grade course 1 book. Weare putting everything we have learned this year back together while still focused on AlgebraicFunctions. The students are excited and eager to see what awaits ahead in Course 2 startingthe 4th nine weeks.

SOCIAL STUDIES, Mrs. SmartLet’s Learn About the WONDERS of ancient India!

India is a country filled with interesting facts ranging from geography toits religions to its culture. This unit exposes students to India, using manydifferent activities. Students will role – play the caste system, learn aboutthe 3 major rivers, major 3 religions that started here, festivals, and iden-tify Indian music and instruments. Lastly, take about 3-5 minutes to talkabout what’s happening locally, nationally, and globally!

SCIENCE, Mrs. MinderIn Science, we have begun Unit 5- Chemistry. Students have completed an investigation in-volving water molecules and recorded observations from this investigation. We have alsocompleted a Focused Reading of text on Matter. We will be continuing our study of atoms,molecules, the Periodic Table of Elements, and other Chemistry concepts.

LANGUAGE ARTS, Mrs. Sprague, Mrs. Pfannenstiel, Ms. BailerStudents are covering their Success Unit. They have all created resolutions that will help thembe successful in 2019. This unit will focus on stories about famous people who pushed throughadversities and were driven to do their best. As always, please ensure that students are read-ing at least 20 minutes a day at home for their reading log and completing all homework. Welook forward to seeing parents at conferences!

● The next dance is Feb 22. We will be sending out a parent link for donation requests and volunteer sign ups.

● The PTSO is providing lunch for all the Robinson staff during conferences on Feb 7. Thank you for sup-porting the PTSO, so we can do acts of kindness for the hardworking staff at Robinson.

● The next PTSO meeting is Tuesday Feb 12 at 7pm. There is an 8th grade dance meeting immediately fol-lowing. This meeting is in the cafeteria and all parents and guardians are welcome to attend.

● The PTSO will be sponsoring a Parent University March 5. Please keep your eyes out for more informationcoming soon.
