Meeting Minutes

January 16, 2017

Opening

The regular meeting of the PTC was called to order at 5:24pm on Monday January 16,

2017 in the Staples Elementary school by Melissa Jewison.

Present

Melissa Jewison, Kathy Broberg, Jessica Alexander, Monica VanEtten, Brooke Dokken,

Cathy Evans, Kathy Johnson and Jenny Buscho

Open Issues

We tabled Amazon Smile and Box tops till next meeting

The book fair in February will have a camping theme. The signup sheet was

passed around and it is mostly filled, if you haven’t volunteered and would still

like to contact Michelle Lindquist. The Grand Event is on Friday the 3rd, there

will be activities and crafts.

Jim VanEtten came and talked to us about the PTC website. It will be ready to

use in a couple days.

The Color Run will be in May and Jenny Buscho, Cathy Evans and Tonia Judd

will be coordinating that event.

The “Family Formal” will be on March 3rd from 6-8. There will be a DJ and

Photographer and refreshment will be served. Prices are still being determined.

We will be having an event on March 30th from 3-6 to inform parents about “Title

One”. We will be selling Tacos in a bag, Monica VanEtten volunteered to lead on

the food. If you would like to help with food please contact her. We haven’t

decided the name of the event yet.

New Business

Pastries with Parents will be on Friday February 17th from 8-8:30

NJPA purchased books for each student. The students will be playing bingo in

their classrooms each day for the month of February to win a book. Each student

only gets one book.

The Lions Club has their “Eggstravaganza” at the community center for Easter.

We would like to have a pancake breakfast fundraiser that same morning.

Dear Parents/Guardians:

WINTER PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCES will be held at Staples-Motley Elementary

on Monday, February 27th from 12:15-8:15 p.m.

Families can sign-up for their conference time slots on our Skyward Family Access.

We have included instructions, on the back, for you to make this step easier. You

must sign up on Family Access before February 10th. After that date, teachers will

assign times for your child. The sooner you sign up for conferences on Family

Access, the better your chances are of scheduling your children’s conferences

back-to-back. If you do not have access to a computer, you can sign in at the

office and use a computer in our computer lab.

A confirmation letter will be sent home on February 16th, with students, showing

your scheduled conference times.

Please note that conference times are set up for your child’s classroom, but if you

would like to see the Music, Phy. Ed., or STEAM teachers, please feel free to

contact them via email and set up a conference time.

Parent Teacher Conferences

SKYWARD Sign-up

Your teacher has made the option available to you to sign up for Parent-Teacher

conferences online through our Skyward Family Access. If you would like to take

advantage of this, please log on to Skyward Family Access through our district website.

To log on to Family Access, go to www.isd2170.k12.mn.us, you

will find a link for “Skyward Family Access” in the middle of the

homepage. Click on the “Skyward Family Access” button to

enter your login information.

If you have never logged on:

Your login is: lastnamefirstname (parent’s)

Password: (call the office to get the password)

Skyward will then direct you to change the password before going forward.

If you HAVE logged in to Family Access before but cannot recall or reset your password,

stop by the school office and they can help get you set up.

Once you are logged in, you should see a screen similar to this:

Click on “Teacher

Conferences” on the left

hand menu.

Then, next to the

students name and

school name, click on

“All Conferences”. Then

under “Status” click

(Select a time). A

window with the

conference time slots

listed will open and you

can “select” the slot that

works for you.

Please notice that conferences are scheduled for 2/27/17. If you have more than one

child to schedule conferences for, repeat this process at “All Conferences” next to the

2nd child’s name.

The deadline to sign up your child’s conference time on Skyward Family Access is

Friday, February 10th. After that time, teachers will be scheduling students who have not

scheduled via Family Access.
