Mobberley Parish Council

The next meeting of Mobberley Parish Council will be held at 7.30pm on Monday 1 February at the Rajar Building.

Please feel free to attend this meeting; however, if you wish to ask any questions that evening, please submit them in writing to the Clerk at least three clear working days before the date of the meeting.

New Parish Councillor

Mobberley Parish Council were pleased to be able to co-opt Mr Colin Booth back on to the Parish Council at it’s January meeting.

We have also received the resignation from Councillor Julie Collins and thank her for her help over the past years, especially her idea to start the Scarecrow competition in the village. We wish her all the best for the future. Following Councillor Collins resignation, there is now a vacancy for a seat on Mobberley Parish Council. If you are interested in this voluntary position, please contact the clerk.

Mobberley Neighbourhood Plan As mentioned in the last edition of the newsletter, the Parish Council are looking into producing a Neighbourhood Plan.

The Plan needs to be developed through extensive consultation with the people of Mobberley and others with an interest in the community.

The Neighbourhood Plan provides local people with the opportunity to have control over where development should go and how it can benefit the community. This plan differs from our Parish Plan in that the Local Authority has to take its contents on board and adhere to them when deciding future planning applications.

A public meeting will be held in the meeting room at the Rajar Building on 8th February at 7pm. The plan cannot move forward without the help and support of the local community, so if you would like to see a Neighbourhood Plan for Mobberley, please come along.

To all Budding Photographers Don’t forget the photograph competition for 2016.

We are looking for photographs of Mobberley, especially if they depict the season of the year. Each month will feature the most suitable picture on the front cover and the winning entries will be included in a village calendar for 2017.

If you would like to take part, then please e-mail your entry to the clerk by 14th of each month. The best picture will be chosen and will feature along with your name.

The photo on the front cover has been sent in by John and Sarah Bowler

who own the Cherrydale Fold of Scottish Highland Cattle in Pavement

UPDATE OF PLANNING APPLICATIONS TO DEVELOP THE HARMAN/ILFORD SITE MOBBERLEY

Many residents in the village will be aware that a new planning application to build 290 houses, alterations to the existing employment buildings (Harman) and a new employment/business park, was submitted before Christmas. The Parish Council have strongly objected to the proposed development as although the scheme reduces the housing from 375 to 290, it now includes a business park with access only onto Smith Lane, which is totally unacceptable. All the reasons for the objection to the previous application in 2014 remain.

Thank you for those who have objected in writing or on the Cheshire East web site. Although the current consultation ended 27th January 2016, you can still object.

The Parish Council, liaising with our Borough Councillor Jamie Macrae, have raised issues with Cheshire East Council Planning Officers to highlight errors, inconsistencies and omissions in the new application and have requested they re-consult on the application. We await Cheshire East Council’s response.

The application number is 15/5407M and can be viewed on hppt://planning.cheshireeast.gov.uk

UPDATE ON THE PLANNING APPEAL FOR THE APPLICATION REFUSED IN NOVEMBER 2014

The Applicant (Argonaught Holdings Ltd., C/O LPC Living) have appealed the refusal by Cheshire East Council to their original application (14/0114M). Although the appeal was lodged in April 2015, the public hearing will not be until 4th May 2016 and is expected to last at least 6 days.

Mobberley Parish Council has registered as a major objector, and continues to work closely with Borough Councillor Jamie Macrae, RAMS (Residents Against Mobberley Sprawl) and a team of expert professionals, covering the main areas for objection. We are fortunate to have several local residents, who have both the qualifications and time to assist in presenting our case.

We have sourced an excellent planning barrister to lead our case, and will be

having regular briefings. The Parish Council will keep residents updated over the

forthcoming months.

1st Mobberley Brownie News

Having survived the excitement of Christmas, our Brownies have returned for a new term feeling refreshed and ready for new challenges ahead.

We were pleased to welcome three new girls to our unit taking our total to 23 Brownies! Historically a small unit in Mobberley, we are thrilled to have grown so quickly and as a result have recruited an extra pair of helping hands in the leadership team! We would like to welcome all of our new Brownies and our parent helper Nathalie Goulbourn to the unit.

This term we are working towards our Stargazer badge, this being very apt with the current space mission and Britain's first official astronaut Tim Peake. The girls have enjoyed looking at star constellations and demonstrating the 8 phases of the moon through the medium of Jaffa Cakes! (Those of us a little older should remember the advert!!)

For more information on 1st Mobberley Brownie unit, please contact Helen Kynnersley on 07813 927103.

FAMILY HISTORY SOCIETY OF CHESHIRE

Just a reminder that our family history research facilities at the Rajar Building are open to non-members. Although there are advantages in becoming a member of the Society, non-members will receive just as much help from our knowledgeable volunteers as members do. We just ask that non-members should make an appointment to visit by tel-ephoning 872210, and bring with them for their first visit means of identification of name and address. There is an admission charge of £5.

We are open Monday to Friday from 10am to 4pm.

A warning about winter weather If snow or icy weather is forecast in the NW Region, it is recommended that you telephone the Centre before setting off to visit the Rajar Building. Some of our Duty Volunteers live in the Macclesfield/Congleton area where conditions may be much worse, preventing them from getting to Mobberley.

Thank you to all the residents who have shown an interest in purchasing a ‘SelectaDNA’ kit from Cheshire Constabulary. Someone will be contacting everyone who has registered an interest in the near future. There is still time to register an interest in purchasing one of these special kits which is a type of traceable liquid which is used to mark up valuable items within the home that are most frequently stolen when a burglary takes place. If you are interested, then please contact the clerk with the details on the form below. Each DNA Forensic Property Marking kit is available at a vastly reduced cost of £10. The normal cost would be over £40 and each Kit would allow between 30 and 50 items to be marked including TVs, Smartphones, Desktop PCs, Laptops, Digital Cameras, etc. The marks can be seen with an ultra violet light and can be instantly traceable to their owners through the database. More information is available from the company’s website – selectadna.co.uk. …………………………………………………………………………………………………… I / We would /would not be interested in purchasing a SelectaDNA kit at a cost of £10.00 I understand this offer is conditional upon the required number being ordered Name……………………………………………………………………………………… Address…………………………………………………………………………………… …………………………………………………………………..………………………… Phone number…………………..…………………………………..…………………… Email address………………………………………………………………...………….. Mobberley Rose Queen Festival Happy New Year from all the Rose Queen committee. Choosing night will have been and gone by the time you read this and we will be busy starting to prepare for this years festival which is on the 18th June starting at 1pm. The new starting time is to try and get people back onto the field earlier so they can relax, look at the stalls and watch the dancing with out feeling so rushed.

If your child did not get the part they desired, we always want dancers, both girls and boys. The first practice is 24 February at the Victory Hall. Please come along and have a go, it's great fun. Alternatively if dancing isn't your thing, come and walk in the parade in fancy dress...there is a prize for the best costume.

Mobberley Victory Hall Trust Deed Committee

The Victory Hall Trust Deed Committee (TDC) has been around for some 18 months or so now. The Committee has been tasked by the Parish Council with the management of the Victory Hal site and the maintenance of the building. The Committee is made up of representatives of the Parish Council, the Memorial Club and other local organisations including the Scouts, the Rose Queen, the Cricket Club, the WI and the churches.

We have spent a good deal of time ensuring that the current structure is sound and viable and over the next couple of years we are hoping to implement a number of improvements to the building making it more accessible and more attractive to use. These include recladding the building, replacing the windows, installing a disabled loo and upgrading the kitchen facilities. All of this has to be done on a strict budget and in phases.

In the meantime, you need to be aware of some changes that are already in effect:

The Victory Hall now has its own website separate from the Memorial Club, the web address is www.mobberleyvictoryhall.uk.

All bookings for the Victory Hall now need to be made through the TDC Secretary not the Memorial Club. The booking form can be found on the website above as can our Secretary’s contact details.

It is expected that users wishing to have alcoholic drinks will use the Club bar. Users may supply, but not sell, up to 50 bottles of wine but must pay corkage of £100. If it is intended to sell alcohol as part of a fundraising event this must be specifically approved previously by the TDC committee and a temporary events license must be obtained. For full conditions please see the booking form.

We will keep you updated with developments but in the meantime if you have any questions please contact either myself or the Secretary and please consider the Victory Hall for your social events.

The month of December was a wonderful and special time of the year for all the staff, parent committee members and children as well as being one of the busiest. All the children participated in our Christmas performance ‘Snowman At Sunset’ in front of families and friends, and what a show it was with lots of singing, dancing and laughter. We also finished off the term with a fantastic party which was enjoyed by all and we had a Special Visitor.

Congratulations to all the Grand Draw winnings who won some great prizes kindly donated from local businesses across Cheshire such as the Bull’s Head & Church Inn Mobberley, Ark Veterinary Surgery, Red House Farm and Stockley Farm Park. Thank you for selling the Grand draw

tickets. We would also like to say a big thank you to all our families for supporting their local Pre-School Playgroup at these events. All money raised is in support of enhancing the childcare provision to provide a rich learning environment for all the children from 2 years of age. Mobberley Pre-School is a registered charity based in the heart of the village. Donations and support of any kind, big or small, are much appreciated to continue to provide high quality childcare and education. If you would like to donate any suitable items please contact the Pre-School. Thank you to everyone who have already kindly donated some fantastic early year’s toys, equipment and useful resources, which all the children are benefiting from.

Sunday services Holy Communion 8.30am

Morning Worship (and Sunday Club) 10am Choral Evensong 6.30pm

On behalf of everybody at St. Wilfrid’s I would, somewhat belatedly, like to wish everybody a happy New Year.

As those of you who have children at school will know Easter is early this year which also then means Lent begins early also. Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent, falls on the 10th February and we shall be holding a ser-

vice of Holy Communion incorporating the rite of Ashing at 7.30pm. The ash of Ash Wednesday is a reminder of our mortality and the need to trust in God.

Throughout Lent there will be a said service of Morning Prayer each weekday morning at 9.00 a.m. in church and every Thursday evening there is a service of Compline in church at 7 p.m. In addition, our Lent Study Group will meet each Thursday at 8.00pm. in the school.

Our All-Age service takes place on the second Sunday of each month and so will be on Sunday 14th February, which we keep as Education Sunday. At the end of the month, Saturday 27th, we shall be holding our Messy Church at the Rajar from 10am to 11am.

You can find out more about all these services and events, and much more, on our website www.mobberleychurch.co.uk.

The Mobberley Trust

The Mobberley Trust is a local charity that exists to help you. It can make grants to Mobberley residents and to organisations that benefit the people of Mobberley.

Naturally, confidentiality is utmost when considering and making grants, which is why the Trust often finds it difficult promoting what it does.

The Trust normally makes one-off payments for essential items or work that people or groups can’t afford. You can contact the Mobberley Trust by emailing its Secretary, the Revd. Ian Blay, at [email protected], or, if you prefer a more direct approach, please feel free to speak in confidence with Dr Tim Mallon, Terry Mitchell (873738) or Mike McDonald (873145), all of whom are also Trustees. Don't worry if you lose these contact details because each month there’ll be a Mobberley Trust advert in this news-letter, so you’ll always be able to contact them.

If you have a problem, if no one else can help, then you can find the Mobberley Trust. Don't be shy and don't worry unnecessarily; the Trust is here for you.
