I know it is true for me. I find that at the Lords Table I cannot stay angry with anyone, and it is the highest privilege to serve as a facilitator of Gods means of Grace in this Holy Sacrament. Here at CHPC we know full well that once an elder – always an elder”, and elders not on active service may also serve communion, but frequently it is only the active elders who are signed up for this privileged responsibility, especially for second service. The worship committee and Pastors would like to change that. Beginning this Sunday, and continuing for the next two weeks, elders not on active duty may also sign up to serve communion! If you find this as meaningful as I have over the years, I suspect many will want to do this. How do you sign up? Contact Terry Booth (oldfi[email protected]) or on her cell at 423-341-7218. Or you may contact the church office or me directly. Please do not depend upon my aging and faulty memory for this signup, but make sure to WRITE IT DOWN if you tell me on a Sunday morning. I look forward to working with each of you as you once again take up this important task in the life of the church. Tom

FROM the PASTOR’S DESK

When I am teaching elder training one of the things I tell

them is that serving Holy Communion is perhaps the most

significant liturgical moment of their tenure as an active

elder. I know it is true for me. I find that at the Lord’s Table I

cannot stay angry with anyone, and it is the highest privilege

to serve as a facilitator of God’s means of Grace in this Holy

Sacrament.

Here at CHPC we know full well that “once an elder – always

an elder”, and elders not on active service may also serve

communion, but frequently it is only the active elders who

are signed up for this privileged responsibility, especially for

second service. The worship committee and Pastors would

like to change that.

Beginning this Sunday, and continuing for the next two

weeks, elders not on active duty may also sign up to serve

communion! If you find this as meaningful as I have over the

years, I suspect many will want to do this.

How do you sign up? Contact Terry Booth

([email protected]) or on her cell at 423-341-7218. Or

you may contact the church office or me directly. Please do

not depend upon my aging and faulty memory for this

signup, but make sure to WRITE IT DOWN if you tell me on a

Sunday morning.

I look forward to working with each of you as you once again

take up this important task in the life of the church.

THANK YOU: Many thanks to all who helped plan, decorate, serve,

cook, bake King cakes, and clean up after Fat Tuesday. We all had a

great time feasting on pancakes while listening to Jazz music. Many

thanks to the jazz musicians who came to play for us. Also, our youth

thank you for your generous donations for our Summer Camp fund.
