Throw the Bums Out!Our guest two weeks ago was Carlton Laird, speaker forPaul Hoover. Carlton is a former Wood Rover City Managerand author. Having been raised during the GreatDepression, Carlton has had a life-ling concern about theeconomy in our country and how it might better besupported.Carlton's new book recommends that we have a"Philadelphia II" and re-constitute our nation and governmentaround more contempory realities. In his book, herecommends:
1. That we follow Nebraska's partiless system andhave only one house.
2. That we decentralize government and leaverepresentatives in their home districts.
3. Every appropriation of money should be approvedby the people.Carlton recommends that we have a national assemblycomprised of the fifty governors who would supervise ourfederal programs. For details, see his book, "Never Vote forthe Incumbant."

Just For FunReaching the end of a job interview, the human resources
person asked a young engineer fresh out of MIT, "And what
starting salary were you looking for?" The engineer said,
"In the neighborhood of $125,000 a year, depending on the
benefits package." The interviewer said, "Well, what would
you say to a package of 5-weeks vacation, 14 paid
holidays, full medical and dental, company matching
retirement fund to 50% of salary, and a company car
leased every 2 years - say, a red Corvette?"
The engineer sat up straight and said, "Wow! Are you
kidding?" And the interviewer replied, "Yeah, but you
started it."
