Families come in all shapes and sizes. This weekend is a time to honour and celebrate the families we are a part of. Our family may be those we are biologically related to, married into, chosen to be a part of or a church family. For some, due to family conflict or other reasons they have “chosen others” to form a family around them. These may be close friends, co-workers, neighbours or others that they find love and support with. Not all of us are fortunate to have a loving and coherent family who support and encourage us. In Matthew’s gospel and in Paul’s letter to the Corinthian community they acknowledge the challenges that we find in relationships with others. We may be in conflict and disconnected to those closest to us. Paul encourages the Corinthians and us to follow Christ and allow Christ to guide us in our relation- ship. He calls us to be united to one another and as “God’s servants” to work together. As children growing up, one of the most important learnings is to get along and cooperate. To put it simply, play nice in the sand box. Author, Robert Fulghum once wrote a book called, “Everything I needed to know I learned in Kindergarten.” These learnings are so important for all of us as we grow and mature. Since its Family day weekend, we can see how important these teachings can be. In the service we will look more closely at how we can be united in Christ while showing love for one another. Scripture Readings: 1 Corinthians 3:1-9 Matthew 5: 21-26 Meditation: Let’s all just get along!

Four year old Mitch loved candy almost as much as his mom Ann did He and Daddy

had given her a beautiful heart-shaped box of chocolates for Valentines Day A few days later

Mitch was eyeing it wishing to have a piece of it As he reached out to touch one of the big

pieces Ann said to him If you touch it then you have to eat it Do you understand

A Mommy Moment

Four year old Mitch loved candy almost as much as his mom Ann did He and Daddy

had given her a beautiful heart-shaped box of chocolates for Valentines Day A few days later

Mitch was eyeing it wishing to have a piece of it As he reached out to touch one of the big

pieces Ann said to him If you touch it then you have to eat it Do you understand

Oh yes he said nodding his head Suddenly his little hand patted the tops of all the pieces of

candy Now I can eat them all

A Mommy Moment

Four year old Mitch loved candy almost as much as his mom Ann did He and Daddy

had given her a beautiful heart-shaped box of chocolates for Valentines Day A few days later

Mitch was eyeing it wishing to have a piece of it As he reached out to touch one of the big

pieces Ann said to him If you touch it then you have to eat it Do you understand

Oh yes he said nodding his head Suddenly his little hand patted the tops of all the pieces of

candy Now I can eat them all

A Mommy Moment

Four year old Mitch loved candy almost as much as his mom Ann did He and Daddy

had given her a beautiful heart-shaped box of chocolates for Valentines Day A few days later

Mitch was eyeing it wishing to have a piece of it As he reached out to touch one of the big

pieces Ann said to him If you touch it then you have to eat it Do you understand

Oh yes he said nodding his head Suddenly his little hand patted the tops of all the pieces of

candy Now I can eat them all
