TOPIC: STUCK BEING ANGRY

Have you ever been really, really angry? Have you ever felt bitter or resentful towards someone? Perhaps youʼve thought about elaborate ways of striking back at particular people who have wronged you. The Bible has a lot to say about anger. In fact the word “anger” or “angry” appears more than 425 times in the Older and Newer Testaments. Of all our human emotions, anger, when it is allowed to lash out unrestrained, is the catalyst for an incredible amount of damage and destruction.

This week weʼll discover that anger is like chains – heavy chains that we wrap around ourselves. These chains keep us from functioning. Weʼll realize that the roots of anger can cause bitterness to grow and build. Resentment, bitterness, disappointment, anger and rage can become a vicious circle of toxic behaviour. We will learn how important it is to develop God honoring ways to deal with any feelings of anger that build up inside. So that we can live free of the chains that could weigh us down.

ALPHA:This 11 week course will be starting on February 28th. Alpha meets Monday evenings 7-9 pm, at the church, beginning each session with dinner, followed by a 40 minute DVD presentation, and finishing with a 30 minute discussion. The topics covered include “Who is Jesus? Why did Jesus Die? How can I be sure of my Faith? Why should I read the Bible?   If you know of a friend, neighbour or relative who would like to have questions answered, sign up is starting today in the lobby. The course is free of charge and open to all.
