This month I want to share with you several testimonies from two students, illustrating how God has used the CMDAAtlanta community to offer and provide needed support and assistance. It is stories like these that remind us of why weneed each other and the importance of being connected together in community.
“Through a combination of undesirable circumstances, I found myself 14 daysfrom the start of my third year IM selective with no where to rotate. My schoollet me know that I was on my own to find a preceptor who qualified, and that Iwould be asked to sit out the rotation if I did not have one that week. I coldcalled dozens of physicians in the area, and used every resource/relationshipat my disposal to try and find one - to no avail. My family and I were askingGod to bring me a rotation and to honor the efforts and prayers that had beenput into this process for months. It was then that the idea of contacting CMDAcame to me. I emailed our area director, Bill Reichart, and asked if he had anyideas. He invited me to the CMDA council meeting which happened to be thenext day. I went and was able to share with the doctors there - asking for help, and possibly a last minute preceptor. Several of the doctors offered to help, and I ended up being able to register for my selective with one of the councilmembers. I also will be doing my surgery selective with a doctor in CMDA. I amso blessed that these physicians rose to the occasion when I was desperate. I
am also really excited to be spending the next two months with doctors wholove the Lord enough to act upon it in such a selfless way. I was grateful to seethe Godly men and women working as CMDA's council, and hope to beamongst them in the future. “ - Carolyn Smallwood, GA-PCOM, M3
This testimony is from one of our student leaders in response to the prayersupport and assistance from the CMDA Atlanta community. Help especiallycame from one of her fellow students who sacrificially assisted her amidst of adifficult situation:
“God has done this through CMDA. Laura and I first got to know each other inHonduras. I cannot go forth without brothers and sisters in Christ. I hope you see,as clearly as I do, how your organization has come to my rescue.”
