PreschoolOur child development center at FRRPD offers an amazing preschool program. We have five different preschool groups ranging from 18 months to Pre-Kindergarten. We provide a nurturing and accepting environment that teaches the “whole child” and focuses on physical, intellectual, emotional and social development daily. We achieve this through a variety of developmentally appropriate, hands on activities and we recognize that each child has individual needs to ensure suc-cess. Through teacher assisted and directed activities, as well as un-structured play, children are encouraged to be independent thinkers, have compassion toward others and are supported as lifelong learners.

We have a structured daily schedule and incorporate Zoo Phonics into our curriculum. Children are provided with ample morning and afternoon outside time on our enormous playground. Made to Move 40+ Interested in a class for support where your body and mind get a tune-up? This program is designed to address activities of daily living (ADL’s). The exercises compliment the basic functional movements we need to perform each day that enable us to maintain or improve our independence. Each class features low impact exercises for bal-ance, flexibility, range of motion, core stability, strength training and coordination. Activities for brain stimulation, health tips and relax-ation techniques are included. People of all ability levels are welcome and participants are encouraged to work at their own comfortable pace. Hip Hop Learn to tear up the dance floor in this exciting dance class for ages 5-18. Students are taught a combination of “old-school” and “new-school” dance moves in addition to body control, balance, rhythm and coordination. Classes also offer performance opportunities to instill self-discipline and self-confidence for each student. Dance/DramaThe Production of Shrek Have you ever wanted to shine on stage in a big Musical Theater Production?! Well now is your chance! Our goal is to teach children the fundamentals of theater arts through acting, song and dance. We strive to provide children with the opportunity to learn life skills, gain confidence and most importantly an education of arts in a loving, safe, and positive environment. Students will audition, learn, and re-hearse a full production Musical Play which will be performed at the Oroville State Theater in the August (performance dates TBA). All students will get a part, no experience necessary. Basics of Digital PhotographyIf you have an SLR or point and shoot camera with control of Sen-sitivity, Shutter Speed and Aperture, and need to know how to make the most of your photography, this class is for you. This class makes the technical aspects of the camera easy to understand, as well as how to apply the control you need to continually improve your photos. The camera functions then become the building blocks for how to compose and use the camera as the tool for your own vision. From family photos to artistic endeavors, from beginner to intermediate skill levels, become an increasingly better photographer. Bring your camera, memory card, manual, lenses, a fully charged battery and lots of enthusiasm for learning. There will be a one hour lunch break. This class and Photoshop Elements complement each other, both providing a complete beginner to intermediate course in digital photography, but each class can stand alone, so choose what you need and come join us!

Adobe Photoshop Elements After taking your digital photos, learn to use Adobe Photoshop Ele-ments to make your images really stand out. We will start with basic control of brightness, contrast, cropping, and color management. Next, learn advanced artistic and creative control along with pan-oramic and High Dynamic Range (HDR) processing using this very capable and reasonably priced program. Students are encouraged to bring a laptop computer (Mac or PC) with any recent version of Photoshop Elements installed along with 10 or more of your own photos to work on using newly learned techniques. Colored Pencil: Children and Adult WorkshopTechniques of colored pencil will be explored in a fun and informa-tive way. AARP Drivers Safety/Smart Driver Program The AARP Smart Driver Program is a 4 or 8 hour classroom course that will help you understand the effects of aging on driving and how you might adjust your driving skills to compensate for these chang-es. Lifeguard TrainingThis course is necessary for people interested in working as a life-guard. CPR for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid and Title 22 are included in this course. Attendance is required for all hours of class. Participants must meet the following pre-requisites: 15 years of age at time of class (must show age verification), swim 300 yards, submerge to a minimum depth of 10 feet and retrieve a 10-pound object, and tread water for two minutes. Youth SportsSporty All Stars (3-5 yrs.) Looking to get your youngster out, about and active? Then join us for this 5 week 45 minutes per week instructional sports program where your child will get to experience a variety of sports and games and get to socialize with some new friends. Sports and activities that will be played are soccer, tee-ball, track and field events, mini Olympics plus some time in our wonderful gymnastics facility. Pre-registration is required so be sure to register by Wednesday, April 8th. Junior Giants (5-12yrs.) Join us for this free non-competitive, Coed summer baseball program for chil-dren ages 5-13 years. Sponsored by the San Francisco Giants Community Fund the program not only focuses on baseball but also activities that focus on read-ing, staying active throughout the summer, healthy eating habits, bully preven-tion and much more!

League Information: Divisions will be separated by age 5/6, 7/8, 9/10, 11-13, divisions may be com-bined if necessary. Team’s will have one practice per week scheduled by the volunteer coach and one game on Saturdays. Season schedule 6/13-8/8 (no game 7/4).

Registration: All registration is taken on-line (only) players & coaches. Registration assistance will be available 4/24 & 5/8 at the Activity Center (1875 Feather River Blvd.) from 3:00-5:00 PM. Must have working email address in order to register.

Registration Dates: April 1st - May 8th visit our website at www.frrpd.com for a direct link to register. Link will not be available until April 1st. If you miss the registration deadline you are not guaranteed a spot on a team, so don’t delay and register right away! After your child is registered your will receive information about the mandatory First Pitch Meeting, all players and at least one parent or guardian must attend. The meeting is scheduled for Saturday, May 16th (times vary by division) and will be at the Nelson school gym.

Volunteers NEEDED: Interested in volunteering? As a free program, the program success is dependent on parent support/involvement so sign up to volunteer today! Many volunteers are needed to make this program successful. Volunteers MUST register on-line beginning April 1. Free background check is required. All equipment and coaching resources are provided by the San Francisco Giants Community Fund. No prior coaching experience is required.

Mighty Mites Instructional Basketball Program (K-4th) Fundamentals, fundamentals, fundamentals. This is an instructional (non-league) basketball program designed to focus on building and instilling proper basketball fundamentals for kids in K-4th grade. This is a 7 week Saturday basketball program, the first two weeks will be strictly skills/drills stations, the next five weeks will start with skills/drills stations and build up to Coed game play. Our Rec Staff coaches will run the program, so no coaches needed. Registration is limited so sign up today! Registration is not taken on-site. Registra-tion fee includes jersey. Basketball leagues 5/6th Boys & 7/8th grade Girls Teams are formed and signed up through local schools in several sur-rounding communities. If your school does not participate in our league coaches can opt to form and sign up a team on their own. Games will be played twice weekly (when possible), at Municipal Auditorium and participating schools. A $35 dollar per game fee ap-plies to all teams. A single elimination tournament will be head at the end of the season (tournament fee applies). Teams must register by contacting Recreation Supervisor at [email protected] by January 9th. Season will run 1/19-3/13. Tournament to follow at end of season.

*New* Track & Field (K-8th graders) Looking for something to keep your child active? Join us for this new track and field program! This is an eight week program where partic-ipants will compete against each other in a variety of individual and team events. Meets will be held once weekly at Harrison Stadium. Sign up and compete on your local school team or sign-up individ-ually through the Feather River Recreation and Park District. A $20 per runner fee applies (additional fees may apply for runners who are on the Feather River Park and Rec Team, to allow for practice time and coaching). Adult SportsAdult Softball Ready, set, play ball! Join us at Nelson Sports Complex and partic-ipate in our adult sports softball league. Leagues are composed of Men’s and Coed divisions. Teams play one night per week, and are guaranteed a total of 12 to 8 games depending on the season. Teams are required to register by the deadline and pay in full. Teams that do not register by the deadline will only be able to participate if there is room in the leagues. Winners of the division will receive Champi-onship T-shirts. All managers are required to attend the mandatory managers meetings (failing to do so can result in removal from the league).
