The crossover rotary valve: Speed , Smart and strong combining the best features of triple

offset and double offset butterfly valves, & metal seat ball valve as one. It has the laminated metal

Class VI seal without high torque of triple offset , the composite seal ring like double offset butterfly

valve but can stand high pressure and high temperature and has a spherical disc like ball valve but less

contact area and less wearing and has positive seal with lower cost unlike metaled seal ball valve.

The unique Belleville seal

has changed the history of

metal seal and is deigned

to have ID conical surface

and OD conical surface seals

in stead of convectional ID

or OD seal with front or

back seal as well ,since ID

surface angle is offset from

OD surface angle , so the

more compressed, more

sealed due to opposite

angles and acts a Belle-

ville spring to keep constant

compress force and seal

forces and compensate any

wearing , since seal ring is

not pressed when the disc

is at open positions, the

seal ring has much long

time.

The Seal retainer is de-

signed to hold the seal ring

at a preset position not

under a preset force , and

has three offset plugs , and

three setscrews over ring

to hold lock ring position

between the body groove

and a cover groove , the

cover ring has a wedge

against a wedge surface of

the body groove, as the

offset plug rotate s to push

the lock against the seal ,

while setscrew s further

push the lock ring, the re-

ductant locking system can

stand high vibrations or

thermal change , the set-

screw is smaller than the

hole on the cover ring, so

they would not fall out

into down stream and

shut off .

The seal ring includes three kinds, composite, seat , sold and laminat-ed metal for ANIS Class 6,4 and severe applica-tions

The dual wedge Joint is designed

for high speed or impact opera-

tion by eliminating stress con-

centration and destructive on the

rotary stem and by separating

bending from driving force ,

equally distributing driving force

with the dual wedge joint , it

greatly reduces bending stress

and hub size to improve fluid

rate, while the center of disc has

the strongest cross section to

transfer driving force to shaft

with larger wedge area of double

sides , so it not only to secure the

joint without weakening the shaft,

but also improve the overall flow

rate with less cross section in the

center as well as the hub areas.

Streamlined disc reduces pres-

sure drop by 15 % or more and

turbulence with reduction of hub

size and cross section of center of

the dice without reducing

strength of the shaft or disc .

Free thermal expansion , re-

stricting shaft from axial expan-

sion causes 15 % of seat leakage

under the thermal change be-

tween 60F to 1200 F if the shaft is

secured by pins, which eliminate

axial freedom, with the dual

friction wedge joint , the shaft

would freely expand axially

without damage the seat or seal

ring .

Wedge free from failing out ,

since the wedge has the same

materials as the disc , they would

be not loss engagement with the

disc even under high vibration ,

the wedge shape unlike the pins

joint , under the shear stress , the

pins in most case has a stronger

material than the disc , under

thermal expansion , they would

fall out would prevent it from

failing out

The bushing and stop pin are a

part of dynamics devices to

deal with dynamic operation

due to the temperature or

movement changes

The bushing combines a seal-

ing and bearing as one, the

bearing teeth act as a bearing

to support shaft at high temper-

ature , the grooves is filled with

grease to provide seals as well

as to lubricate both shaft and

bushings while the spring pins

to support the shaft under

both lower and high tempera-

tures , or thermal expansion or

impact force due to shaft side

load from disc ,

Liquid is filled between the

bushings for providing liquid

seal .and lubrication

Buckling stop pin is designed

to absorb the impact when the

disc is to closed or cut solid

particles build up like coking ,

since buckling condition hap-

pen away below yield

strength , the pin would not be

damaged while it stores 35 %

impact energy and greatly in-

crease the seat as well the

bushing life.

The great benefit for both

valves , the control valves are

constantly on moving, the bear-

ing plays a key part of smooth

operation, while the stop pin

shut off without damaging the

The unique smart packing is to

aim to solve the fugitive emis-

sion for both on-off and

throttling applications under

100 PPM , API has on-off pack-

ing specification like API 622 ,

but no throttling valve specifica-

tion .

A pair of eccentric plugs are

designed to replace the conven-

tional gland and bolts , which

generates uncontrolled com-

pression on the packings , the

distanced between the highest

point in the plug are based

on the optimized compression ,

, once the compression reach

the lowest point, the packing is

need to be replaced.

There are four root causes for

the stem packing leaks includes

( 1) dynamic enlargement ac-

counts for 40% (2) the wearing

accounts for 30% (3) corrosion

20% ( 4) foreign object inclu-

sion accounts for 10% .

The smart packing includes (1)

spring bearing to eliminate or

reduce dynamic enlargement

due to the clearance between

shaft and bearing (2) a packing

ring set includes , internal pack-

ing rings , metal wedge rings,

external packing rings , the met-

al wedge rings generate inward

and outward force under press-

ing to compensate wearing of

the internal, external rings (3)

each metal support ring can be

added a zinc ring to protect the

shaft (4) each metal support

ring s prevent any foreign object

to get into the packing rings .

The packing less stem seal as-

sembly is designed to seal and

bear the rotary stem at high

temperatures 850 F and up to

1800 F , when air is heated to

850 and up, the graphite suffer

greatly oxidation and become

ash , so packing less seal assem-

bly are fully metaled , the rota-

ry shaft has a conical or spherical

shoulder with a pair of wedge

rings installed on top and

bottom of the shoulder, a top

and a bottom plate to support

the top and bottoms of wedge

rings.

The stem seal assembly convert

the dynamic seals between the

stem shoulder and wedge rings

to static seals , the static seal

between the wedge rings and

top and bottom plates to dy-

namic seals, special high temper-

atures

Smart handle is designed to

have smart /friendly inter-

face with hands and eye and

include a position base

plate and basic detachable

handle and sign detachable

The position base plate has

a position plate with a pair

of 10 position step slots ,

each step slot has a small

slot for the lock position,

the large slot for cap screw

bottom and coupled with a

shaft by two spring pins,

color aluminum to indicate

tion.

The actuator include two

types (1) scotch yoke de-

signed to handle fast on-off

operation (2) the vane

actuator I designed to han-

dle fast cycle or throttling

operations , they are well

designed to fit each valve

as one unit

The unique universal body

assembly has a base lugged

body and can be sued alone

or combined with a pair

flanges for double flanges

or a pair butt weld flanges

for butt welded joint, so the

universal 3 pcs body assem-

bly can replace any face to

face configuration .

Attachable seal ring is

placed between flanges ,

even under high temperature

change or pressure surge, the

flanges are still well sealed ,

the seal ring is not reusable ,

the big advantage is to re-

place welding process .

The left and right trim set is

used to control the flow

conditions I like cavitation,

erosion in a more efficient

and optimized way , since

the incoming flow stream

is divided two , each stream

is conditioned by one trim,

at full opening , the flow

capacity only is reduced by

30 % , the trim is easily to

be replaced and installed .
