16-17 has seen strong financial and creative performance from our organisation. The highlight of the year was the integration of our DAB+ station FBi Click into regular programming and the return of 94.5fm onto DAB in June. FBi has been a leader for the community broadcast sector in the transition to DAB+. We developed a new station’s worth of programming and then transitioned the best of the new programming into main station in time to bring 94.5 across to the new platform. FBi has always been a champion for new electronic music and FBi Click allowed us to discover and showcase new and exciting local voices and create new programming teams around those discoveries. Roughly

40% of the programs on FBi Click have now been integrated into 94.5. In the back office, we have made significant changes to our database management systems which has improved the operation of Supporter Drives and regular activities to keep in touch with and service members. The year ended with our most successful End of Financial Year Appeal ever. More people are recognising that if want media we can trust and culture that represents all of us, then we have to support the institutions that deliver. With your help, FBi will continue to make the radio our city deserves.

Our music and programming might be creative and risk-taking but I’m pleased to report the Financials of Free Broadcast Inc for FY2017 were simply solid and reassuring. Our business model is to champion culture and to make such great radio and content that sponsors want to partner with us and listeners want to become financial supporters. And we’re always thrilled to work with arts bodies and donors who recognise the quality and relevance of our production and programming.FY2017 saw FBi Radio continue to excel in all aspects of this business model. We’re seeing budgets strained everywhere so it is a tremendous result to still have good revenue streams and hit our expenditure budget. We were even able to re-pay our original benefactors who provided

funds to cover our early years of broadcasting. (And a big shout-out to our out-going VP Brandon Saul for his remarkable generosity.)Our audited accounts for FY2017 are available and show we achieved both a modest surplus and maintained growth in our balance sheet. Investment in our membership systems are opening new opportunities. Our sponsorship team are bringing in big-name brands and creating compelling opportunities for them to engage with us. This is a great platform for FBi Radio to continue as one of the greatest radio stations on the planet.Full details of our audited accounts are available to members.
