Equitable Multi-Level Systems of SupportsWisconsin Framework
In this system, high quality instruction, strategic use of data, and collaboration interact within a continuum of supports to facilitate learner success.
Schools provide varying types of supports at differing levels of intensity to proactively and responsively adjust to the needs of the whole child.

MTSS is the practice of systematically providing differing levels of intensity of support based on student responsiveness to instruction and intervention in academics and behavior.
Within WSD schools, the multi-level system of support is a three-tiered structure of support designed to maximize student achievement in the general education setting.
All students are supported through this structure of supports and instruction.

Use of Data
Historically
Data are collected to satisfy compliance requirements and are often used as “hammers” to punish teachers, schools, and school districts.
Today
Data are collected and analyzed in order to answer critical questions.
Student-level data shine a light on what is working, so decisions are informed by high-quality data aimed at improving the achievement of every student.

What’s A Data Story? The use of a range of data to describe the history and current circumstances and outcomes within a district, school, or classroom
● Historical and current ● Quantitative and qualitative ● Consider trends and patterns that reflect success and opportunities for improvement ● Create the next “chapter” in the story according to our vision of our desired future

Implementation of Data
Are we using data to identify core instructional needs?
Teams meet and review screening data to make decisions about needed improvements to the universal, Tier 1 instruction.
Are we using the data to group students to supplemental services?
Are we using data to determine when instructional programs need to be intensified?
Team meets to make decisions about who may need Tier 2/3 intervention.
Teams meet and review progress monitoring data to determine when instructional changes are needed.
