Artist Statement

Fashion photography is taking over the world. Look around you, billboards, screens, and magazines… Fashion industry creates those beautiful illusions for the viewers to enjoy, dream, and eventually de-sire what they offer.

However, the crazy pace of fashion world made the world itself twisted in a certain way. Models are required skinner and skinner, taller and taller, younger and younger. I’ve watched a documentary co-filmed by a model and her boyfriend. It reveals how the shining world ignore those girls are still human being instead of posing machines.

Richard Avedon and his elegant photographs of women models inspired me. He treated like they are his sisters, full of respects to the models.

In this book, I used the photo studio to capture all images. Try-ing to capture the way fashion photography is doing, but at the same time, my focus is my models, my friends. This group of photographs reveals the real them in a brand new outfit. Without overly photo-shopped the images, these photos keeps them in their own ways. Their personalities are more important than the clothing. But at the same time, the clothing looks prettier because of them.
