This past weekend, the Farber Fire Boys Varsity team took their game on the road to Cleveland—home of the Fuchs Mizrachi Mayhem. Rabbi Stein and Rabbi Silverstein traveled with the team along with parent chaperones, Paul Fischer and Jerry Eizen. When coach Rick Kaczander fell ill with the flu, student assistant coach Alex Fischer stepped in as head coach. The students were generously hosted by Fuchs Mizrachi families and enjoyed a weekend of Cleveland fun at the Rock and Roll Hall of fame and local eateries. Our students partook in morning Shiur led by Rabbi Yehuda Chanales of Fuchs Mizrachi before hitting the court for warm up and practice. After losing the first game Saturday night, the Farber Fire team members came back, regrouped, discussed their performance, devised a new game plan and controlled the second game, only losing by three points due to a last minute turnover. Our Farber students demonstrated exceptional character on the road by expressing appreciation to their hosts, participating in morning shiur and showcasing their outstanding sportsmanship on and off the court. A special thank you to Paul Fischer, our resident Farber Fire photographer for the great shots below.

A Family
Mitzvah
Project
In honor of Farber student JJ’s recent Bat
Mitzvah, the entire Jacobs family (Rivka & Brian, Gabriella, JJ and Eliana) donated their hair to the CWHL, an
organization that collects donated hair for
children with hair loss due to illness. After
growing their hair out for 2 1/2 years, the
Jacobs family donated over inches 98 inches of hair! Kol Hakavod to the
fantastic Bat Mitzvah girl and her family on participating in this incredible Mitzvah.
The Beit Hamikdash Wasn’t Built in a Day...
Navi Comes to Life in the 4th Grade
After learning Sefer Yehoshua and the story of Yael and Sisra, the 5th Grade class had the opportunity to create storyboard presentations and dramatic performances depicting what they learned. The groups collaborated on the scenes they would depict, created storyboards, and took turns presenting to the class. Navi is always an action-packed, exciting topic to learn—especially when acted out and enjoyed by the entire class.

4th Graders sharing Navi storyboard
presentations to the class
After learning all of the intricacies of the construction of the Beit Hamikdash, Rabbi Nemes' 8th Grade Navi class used creative mediums to build models of the Beit Hamikdash and Shlomo Hamelech's throne. The students' broke into groups and spent numerous classes creating models made out of Lego, Minecraft - even a computer model printed on a 3-D printer. Not only do our students have a better understanding of the layout and design of the Beit Hamikdash, they enjoyed this hands-on experience, sharpening their engineering (and teamwork) skills through preferred building tools.
