FAQQ:I do not see any wireless networks in the Wireless

Network Connection window.A:Your wireless network adapter may not be installed

Connecting your Shaw Wireless Home Network. Once you have connected your Shaw Wi-Fi Modem, please choose one of the operating systems below to connect your Shaw Wireless Home Network.

Connecting your Shaw Wireless Home Network.

Windows 7 / VistaStep 1: Click the Windows Icon/Start Button and

in the “Search programs and files” (Windows 7) or the “Start Search” (Vista) box, type in “run” and press enter on your keyboard.

Step 2: Type in “ncpa.cpl” and click “OK”

Step 3: Right click on the “Wireless Network Connection” icon, then click “Connect/Disconnect”. If you do not see the “Wireless Network Connection” icon, please refer to our FAQ section.

Step 4: Find your Shaw Wireless Home Network SSID listed in the Wireless Network Connection window (see sticker on Wi-Fi Modem) and click on it, then click the “Connect” button. If you do not see any wireless networks listed, please refer to our FAQ section.

Step 5: When asked, enter the secure default pre-shared key (see sticker on Wi-Fi Modem) or a previously customized pre-shared key, then click “OK” or “Connect”.

Step 6 (Vista only): Save your settings by clicking “Save this Network & Start this connection”, then click “Close”.

Step 7 (Vista only): A window will pop up, click on the “Home” button to continue. A “User Access Control Menu” will pop up, click “Continue”, finish the installation by clicking the “Close” button.

Step 9: You are now connected to the Internet, open your Internet browser to begin surfing.

Windows XPStep 1: Click on the Windows Icon/Start Button,

then click “Run…”, and type in “ncpa.cpl” and press enter on your keyboard.

Step 2: Now look for “Wireless Network Connection” icon and right click on it, then click “View Wireless Network Connections”. If you do not see the “Wireless Network Connection” icon, please refer to our FAQ section.

Step 3: You will see a list of available wireless networks. Find your Shaw Wireless Home Network SSID (see sticker on Wi-Fi Modem) and click on it, then click the “Connect” button. If you do not see any wireless networks listed, please refer to our FAQ section.

Step 4: Enter in your secure default pre-shared key (see sticker on Wi-Fi Modem) or a previously customized pre-shared key to connect and then click “Connect”.

Step 5: Save your settings by clicking “Save this Network & Start this connection” then click “Close”

Step 6: You are now connected to the Internet, open your Internet browser to begin surfing.

Mac OS 10.5.”X” & 10.6.”X”Step 1: Find and click on the AirPort icon near

your clock in the upper right hand side of your screen.

Step 2: Once clicked the menu will expand, make sure the AirPort is set to “On”, if it is “Off” please refer to the FAQ section to continue.

Step 3: In the AirPort menu, find your Shaw Wireless Home Network SSID (the default SSID is located on the sticker attached to your Shaw Wi-Fi Modem), and click on it.

Step 4: You will be prompted to enter a security key, please enter your secure default pre-shared key located on the sticker attached to your Shaw Wi-Fi Modem.

Step 5: You are now connected to the Internet, open your Internet browser to begin surfing.

SettiNg uP AdditiONAl COMPuterS Repeat the steps in the “Connecting your Shaw Wireless Home Network” section of this brochure for each computer you would like to add to your network. If you have set up a customized name for your Shaw Wireless Home Network (SSID), you will need to look for that in the list of Wireless Networks and click CONNeCt. Then enter the pre-shared key you have already chosen to connect. If you are using the secure default settings, enter the default password on the sticker attached to your Shaw Wi-Fi Modem.

AdVANCed uSerSIf you are an advanced user, we suggest that youconfigure your advanced settings after connecting your first computer, and before connecting any additional devices to your Shaw Wireless Home Network. This is to avoid having to setup all of your computers and/or devices again.

To access the advanced settings for your Shaw Wireless Home Network, open your web browser and type 192.168.0.1 into your address bar.

Enter your default USerNAMe and PASSWOrd that is located on the sticker attached to your Shaw Wireless Gateway to gain access to the advanced settings.

*Note* The advanced settings for the Shaw Wireless Home Network are provided for experienced users who have specific needs on their network. Due to the technical nature of the advanced settings, we suggest that light network users keep the default settings as they provide a secure experience and have fewer technical steps.
