Who are we? The Milton Keynes Music Co-operative is a not-for-profit organisation set up and run by teachers who were part of the Milton Keynes Music Service. All the teachers within the Co-operative have full CRB/DBS disclosures and are highly qualified and experienced instrumental teachers who will take part in regular CPD. What do we do? We teach high quality individual and small group instrumental lessons. We will help to deliver the National Music Plan, offering value for money whilst delivering a quality service. We will be working in collaboration with Milton Keynes Music Faculty, Milton Keynes Council and Milton Keynes Music Hub. How does it work? Instrumental lessons with Co-operative teachers began in the summer term 2014. They take place over 34 weeks of the year in the same way as they did with the Music Faculty, although the invoice will now come from the Milton Keynes Co-operative. Next Steps If you would like to discuss your requirements with a Co-operative representative please email

[email protected] and a representative will get back to you. For more information please visit

MK City Orchestra - New Season

Milton Keynes’ own professional orchestra kicks off its 2017/18 season in grand style at Milton Keynes Theatre on Sunday 29 October at 3.00 p.m.. The ‘Show Music Matinee’ features music from some of the pinnacles of musical theatre: West Side Story, Oklahoma, An American in Paris, The Sound of Music ….. And not just the music, the words in the shape of songs from soprano Jeni Bern and baritone James Cleverton. For sure, this is a concert that the whole family will enjoy – so come and make an afternoon of it. MKCO’s first concert of the season at The Venue, Walton High is a must for budding cellists. On Friday 24 November at 7.30 Laura van der Heijden will perform Schuman’s Cello Concerto. Laura won the BBC Young Musician of the Year competition in 2012 when she was just 15 years old. And, of course, you don’t just to be a student of the cello to be inspired by that. The concert also features Beethoven’s Pastoral Symphony (No. 6), a beautiful expression of rural life in all its forms to transform a dark November evening. If that’s not sufficient reasons for being there, the evening will also see the

presentation of the Christopher Memorial Bursary to a local young musician; it could be someone you know. The MKCO programme continues through 2018. Look out for copies of the brochure at Music Service sessions and in the office. You can also access it online at www.mkco.org As always at MKCO concerts, there are seats at £5.00 in parts of the auditorium for under-18s and card-carrying students. For other ticket purchases go to www.mkco.org .
