Prayer of the Week
Thank you God for yet another day. Help me to live in line
with your Word. Show me who I can help today. Let this person feel your love though my actions. Let them experience
your presence. My mind, ears, and eyes will stay open to receive your direction all the day long. Let me pass your
blessing to another person today. Amen

FIFTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR A
Gospel Acclamation
Jn 8:12
Alleluia, alleluia!
I am the light of the world, says the Lord;
the man who follows me
will have the light of life.
Alleluia!
Gospel
Mt 5:13-16
A reading from the holy Gospel according to Matthew
You are the light of the world.
Jesus said to his disciples: ‘You are the salt of the earth. But if salt becomes tasteless, what can
make it salty again? It is good for nothing, and can only be thrown out to be trampled underfoot
by men.
‘You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill-top cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp to
put it under a tub; they put it on the lamp-stand where it shines for everyone in the house. In
the same way your light must shine in the sight of men, so that, seeing your good works, they
may give the praise to your Father in heaven.’
TOGETHER WE SHINE- NOTICE THE DIFFERENCE!
What do we take notice of in our day, in our world?
Do you see God’s hand at work?
What most people would say is the magic happens in what are just the ordinary events of our
day. God’s light is shining through people in their words and actions for others.
Have a think for yourself-
-When have I been aware of the presence of God in the ordinary people and
experiences of my daily living?
-How have I pointed out the specialness of others due to the fact that God’s light is
shining in the world?
-How can I see the light of God shine through me and through others?
May you continue to be aware of the Light of Christ, which shines upon you, and
through you and through others out in the world.
MONTESSORI WORKING PARTY
Thank you to the Montessori Working Party who met last Tuesday evening to discuss advocacy
actions for 2020. We had a robust discussion about Catholic Identity and what makes St Pius X
the school of choice- What is the Difference? And we all decided it was the little everyday things
that make the difference and why parents choose to enrol their children to St Pius X.
We just have to be conscientiously aware to notice these differences to be able to tell others
about the magic!
An action was decided to simple survey families to catch some of the reasons parents enrol their
children at St Pius X. I therefore invite parents/families to take a few moments to fill out the
Survey, which will be sent via Care Monkey.
MEET & GREET- ALL PARENTS WELCOME TUESDAY 11TH FEBURARY 7-8:30pm
We invite all our parents to our Meet & Greet this Tuesday evening 7-8:30pm. This is a great
opportunity to get to know each other better, welcome our new parents and meet members of
our School Advisory Council. Coming together for an informal chat with light refreshments is a
great way to learn about each other and the school, and to talk about what matters most for you
and your family at St Pius X.
2020 SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT REVIEW
Throughout 2020, St Pius X will review the improvements made throughout the school over the
past 4 years and set new improvement goals for the next 4 years.
This is an exciting time in the life of a school, celebrating the great things that have been
achieved and looking forward to future directions, hopes and dreams.
The process will involve the whole school community students, parents and staff.
Presently the staff with the support of the Catholic Education Melbourne Eastern Region Leaders
are analysing 2019 Survey Data completed by the community. All reports will be shared with
students and parents as well as the wider community.
There is a School Closure on the 10th March for the staff to review the Catholic Identity Survey
Data (conducted every 4 years) to analyse the 2019 Data.
OPEN DAYS- Tuesday 25th February & Saturday 14th March
Our official Open Days for 2021 & 2022 enrolments occur on Tuesday 25th February & Saturday
14th March.
Open Days are an opportunity to showcase the school, we therefore ask parents for support in
ensuring the children are neat and tidy, in the correct uniform and arrive on time at 8:45am to
begin school. Parents are invited to be involved in the Open Days by chatting to prospective
families and taking families on tours. Our senior students also assist in taking families on tours.
The Parents & Friends will be providing a BBQ on the Open Day Saturday 14th March and we ask
our school families to come and support the school on these days as well. More information will
be forwarded to families in the coming weeks regarding the Open Day Saturday 14th March.
THANK YOU - A huge thank you to Anthony Begovic for supporting the school with his clever
design work creating the Open Day Flyers, Magazine Wraps and Billboards. Anthony and his wife
Jo also helped us in the Office cutting the Open Day School Magazine Wraps. Anthony is the
clever designer of our school SHINE Magazine, which I am sure you are all enjoying sharing with
your family and friends.

Even a small donation could help Sharon Wright reach her fundraising goal. And if you can't
make a donation, it would be great if you could share the fundraiser to help spread the word.
Thanks for taking a look,
