On Saturday, May 20, the new Beach volleyball stadium 2 with five volleyball courts fully equipped for competition and trai-ning will be opened. There will be changing rooms, showers and court lighting in the Beach volleyball stadium. On a daily basis, there will be movable spectator stands with 50 seats, but du-ring competitions there will be up to 1000 seats.

On May 14, locals and guests are welcome to participate in the opening of the Vent-spils tourism and cycling season. Cycling fans will gather together for an exciting 8.6 km bicycle ride through the streets of the city, with a 2.1 km children’s distance. Summer amusements at the Adventure Park 1 and games with fairytale characters will en-sure cheerful moments.
On May 28, the Children’s Festival will be opened with a splendid parade. In the Children’s Town 3 young singers, dancers and musicians of Ventspils will perform from 12:00. During the festival it will be possible to participate in cheerful water and ground amusements, activities with horses, yoga lessons for babies, creative workshops and games with colourful fairy-tale characters. The festival will continue in the children’s Fantasy park with a concert and games.
The ride on the narrow gauge train Mazbānītis 8 is fun for everyone. During the ride from the Seaside Open-Air Museum 9 to the Adventure Park 1 one can see histor-ical buildings and breathe in the fresh scent of the seaside pine forest. At the end of the trip, using the turntable one can try to turn the locomotive around for the return journey.

Museum Nighton May 20Castle of the Livonian Order 4 in coop-eration with the Latvian Filmmakers Union will offer the documentary “To atceras tikai vilcieni” (2016) (Only trains remember that) directed by J. Putniņš, and also to enjoy the evening atmosphere of the castle. The House of Crafts 5 will host a musical and theatrical performance with the poetry of Eduards Vei-denbaums, and in the H. Dorbe Museum 6 Laimdota Sēle will tell real horror stories from the Zlēkas rural territory.
Excursion with the boat “Hercogs Jēkabs” 7 is an activity enjoyed by both guests and locals. During the excursion one can see the old town, the industrial area of Ventspils Freeport, the sea gate and use an audio guide.

On June 10-11, in the Castle of the Livonian Order 4 the Knights’ Tournament Lilium Vindaviensis. At the end of the impressive first day of knight fights, the first Medieval Music Festival will begin.
On May 21, the Seaside Open-Air Museum 9 invites to an event dedica-ted to weddings (Kāzu štelles). From June 17, only a few days before the Midsummer Day, the Castle of the Livonian Order 4will host the unusual exhibition “Exotic hunting” – birds and animals from the Vents-pils Museum and private collections, as well as hunting-inspired garments and accesso-ries from A. Vasiļjevs’s clothing collection.

Solstice event in Jūrkalne Ugunspļava (Fire Meadow)In Jūrkalne, one can see two sunsets at the 20m-high steep coast, as well as celebrate the solstice event in suiti (ethnographic) traditions on June 21, in the Fire Meadow. On May 26, locals and guests will be delighted by the glamorous Friday’s Walk, “Come into the Light of Evening”. The youngest visitors of the Walk will be welcomed to participate in an adventure hunt, where in specially designed orientation routes they perform various tasks; the children’s big band will perform, game laboratories will be open and animated movies will be shown. There will be also a scarecrow parade and “The Market of Lamps”. Young people will en-joy the dance music of sound artists DJ Makree, DJ Magnuss Eriņš, and DJ Get Dizzy accompa-nied by vocal performance by Edvards Grieze. Composer Jānis Lūsēns, violinist Raimonds Ozols and soloists Andris Ērglis and Annija Putniņa will perform a charming concert “Love Melody”.
Theatre House 11 you can get to know and enjoy diverse culture and art events in Vents-pils. On May 17, visitors can attend the Dailes Theatre performance “8 mīlošas sievietes” (8 loving women), and on May 21 the Latvian National Opera and Ballet performance “Pērs Gints” (Peer Gynt), and on May 25 – the se-ason finale concert of The Latvian National Symphony Orchestra.
On May 27, the Pārventa Festival begins with a splendid parade. There will be chil-drens’ amusements in the ”Fantasy” Chil-dren’s Park 12 ; and on the park stage a mu-sical performance will be given by Ventspils artistic groups and guest artists throughout the day.
Ventspils Beach 10 always pleases people with white sand, coastal dunes and good infrastructure. Here you will find cafes, playground equipment, outdoor fitness equipment and outdoor beach volleyball courts, and the comfortable trails lead vacationers and surf-ers to the beach. On June 3, the Blue Flag is run up; it shows compliance to international environment standards.

On June 18, The Adventure Park Marat-hon, within the running series “Skrien Latvija”, will take place in Ventspils for the second time. In addition, entrants can run also a half-marathon, 10.55 km or 5.3 km. The youngest athletes are welcome to run in children’s races on June 17.

Homemade wine in Ugāle Dainis Barčevskis, owner of the “Grodi” house, offers to taste various wines: currant, rhubarb, cherry, plum, bilberry-black currant, apple-rowan, cowberry, quince and other types. “Rīvas loki” nature trail in Labrags 3 km long exploring hike for children and stu-dent groups covering topics such as biodiver-sity and protection of nature. Skatepark 16 has approximately 40 ramps. The biggest Latvian street sports and culture festival “Ghetto Games” is held here every year. A modern stadium for street gym-nastics has been created at the entrance of Olympic Centre “Ventspils” 17 . Both sport complexes can be used free of charge.
Visitors of the Creative House Plane- tarium 15 can watch exciting shows and 360-degree films about nature, space and planets; and at the observatory can look at the universe – the sun, planets, nebulae – through a high quality telescope.
There are more than 30 modern playgrounds for children and two children’s towns in Vents-pils. In some places also basketball courts and fitness equipment for training outdoors are installed. For the comfort of babies’ parents, rest places with benches are set up.
Green, flourishing and sparkling Ventspils boasts a large diversity of flowers plan-ted in countless flowerbeds and flower-trays, constructed in pyramids and flower sculptures to cheer locals and visitors. On hot days the sparkling fountains, through every drop of water, will serve as refreshment and show the beauty of rainbows. The newest fountain is Frigate “Whalefish” 20 in Lielais Square.
During the summer season there are var-ious events in the Adventure Park 1 as well as cheerful amusements: bumper cars, bumper boats, children’s playhouse, tube sliding track, children’s driving school and many others.

The Water Amusement Park 13 visitors can relax and improve their health in the SPA complex and the amusement zone. Energetic visitors are welcome to use the gyms and the large and small swimming-pools. During the summer season the Beach Waterpark 14 is very popular; it offers pipes, swimming-pools, bubble baths, saunas and special baby areas. To prepare for the summer season and to be open for public at the beginning of June, some improvement work is being carried out in the Beach Waterpark.
