F or me, finishing my internship at FCTV was an all-encompassing, successful venture that started long before I actually walked in the studio

doors. As a sophomore at Bethune-Cookman University, I decided to pursue the field of mass communications. I had a natural affinity for broadcast. Originally focusing my energy on radio, I later began spending the majority of my time in the school’s TV studio. Searching for an internship, I came across FCTV. It appealed to me on many different levels. It wasn’t one of the larger stations, so there would be more opportunities to get hands-on training and showcase my talents. At FCTV I got a chance to film numerous field and in-studio shoots, produce and report on my own packages, and hone my Final Cut skills. These are the skills needed to get a job in this competitive market. Over the summer I intend to continue to come into the studio and help out where I’m needed. My post summer plans are to do some international traveling. By keeping in touch with the contacts I’ve made at FCTV, I hope to be able to do some freelance overseas reporting for the station. I have bettered the skills that pertain to my craft and I have made contacts with which I hope to stay in touch. I am very happy with the result of the internship and grateful to FCTV for the opportunity.

A Note from FCTV’s Intern, Tai Marie Gonzalves
