AquaticsSWIMMING LESSONSParent/Child (Ages 6-36mos) Songs, games, bonding and water safety. Parent must be in water with child.(Ages 3-5) Beginner with little or no swimming experience. Saturday 9:30am-10:20am

Youth Polliwog (Ages 6-12) Beginner with little to no swimming experience.

Guppy (Ages 6-12) must be able to paddle on front, back,

side 20 ft without assistance. Saturday 10:30am-11:20am

Adult/Teen Lessons It is never too late to learn. Do you want to be able to swim with your kids or grandkids? Do you just want to enjoy the water for the fitness benefits? Saturday 11:30am-12:20pm

Stroke Mechanics (Ages 6-15) Must have passed the Guppy level and be able to swim front and back crawl one length of the pool comfortably. Focus will be on improving stroke technique and endurance along with water safety skills and water sports. Saturday 12:30pm-1:20pm

Private Swim Lessons(Ages 4+) both beginner and experienced - 5, 30-minute lessons. By appointment only. Mem/$80 Non-Mem/$100

Adult - Beginner Level 2 This class is designed for adults who can swim at least 25 feet (about 1/3 of the length of the lap pool) on their own but would like to work on stroke technique. Focus is on the basics of freestyle and breaststroke. Swimmers will continue to work on endurance, confidence, and treading water. Ideal for those that are not afraid of the water but have never had any formal training.

Adult - Intermediate For adults who can already swim 50 yards (1 lap) on their own. Focus on the development of strength and endurance as well as improving freestyle, backstroke, and breaststroke.

Aqua Aerobics/Aqua Fit Medium to high intensity depending on class participants. Cardiovascular along with toning, flexibility, and abdominal work.

Arthritis Class A nationally recognized program for mild water exercise and stretching, specifically for people with arthritis and limited ranges of motion.

Latin Splash Water Fitness This is the aqua fitness program everyone has been waiting for! If you love Zumba you'll love Latin Splash...It is a fun, intense workout with great music and high energy.

Seniorcise Water Fitness If a land class causes stress on your joints, try this shallow and deep water exercise class. Join the growing number of people who have discovered the fun and value of water exercise. All abilities are welcomed. Ages 55 and up.

Swim Club/Stroke Mechanics For swimmers who can complete 100 yards on their own but would like to work on stroke analysis and specific training techniques.

Terrified Of Water This class is designed for the adult beginner who may be timid about swimming or who has never swam in deep water. Class is self-paced and will work on basics such as floating, treading water, kicking, and basic paddle stroke. Instructors will help you work toward your own personal goal and will guide you in the areas in which you want to improve.

FitnessYoga Ever feel like you need a jumpstart to your day, and coffee isn't the answer? Our NEW morning Yoga class will get you moving and rid your body and mind of tired, stale energy.

Enhance strength and flexibility with rhythmic breathing and gentle controlled poses-all adaptable for various fitness levels.

Zumba A class that fuses hypnotic Latin rhythms and easy-to-follow moves to create a dynamic fitness program. Tone and sculpt your body to the beat of a different drum. Ditch the workout and join the party!

Total Body Challenge Take both classes (Ultimate Cardio & Aerobic Strength Training) together and get a total body challenge! Classes include a strong emphasis on core strength, muscular endurance, and balance exercises in combination with overall strength training.

SilverSneakers® Designed for older adults or those unable to take a high impact fitness class, participants in this class move through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement and skills required during activities for daily living (ADL). Hand-held weights, elastic tubing and a stability ball are offered for resistance. A chair is used for seated and standing support.

Personal Training Achieve your personal health & fitness goals more effectively with personal training. Your Personal Trainer will develop the most effective program for you based on your personal fitness evaluation and goals. Whether it's weight loss, strengthening your core, toning or sculpting, the South Chicago YMCA has the right trainer for you.

Youth and FamilyKids Club The South Chicago YMCA "Kids Club" after school program provides school-age children with a safe, stimulating environment where they can develop in a positive manner. Staff foster this development by offering age appropriate activities that include social, physical, creative and emotional growth.
