The Sun Chronicle K Saturday – Sunday, January 6-7, 2018 F9 FALL HIGH SCHOOL ALL-STARS T HE GIRLS’ CROSS COUNTRY A LL-STARS Angela Kaiser/North Attleboro Kaiser picked up her fourth Sun Chronicle All-Star nod in her final season of cross coun- try competition for the Red Rocketeers. One of her top performances came at the Hockomock League Championship, finishing in fifth place with a 19:54.7 clip. Two weeks later, the senior finished 30th at the MIAA Division 3 Champi- onship (20:24.4). Kaiser clocked a season-best 19:14 mark during a dual meet against Milford and also finished fourth at the Catholic Invi- tational (20:10). She was also named a Hock- omock League All-Star for her effort. Kaiser also volunteers for the YMCA Jaguars youth track and field program. Kaiser has commit- ted to attend Sacred Heart University. Lindsey Nelson/Foxboro A repeat Sun Chroni- cle All-Star, Nelson, put in strong work during her junior season. The Warrior distance runner posted a season-best 5k time at the MIAA Divi- sion 4 Championship, crossing the line at 19:47 for 10th place in a field of 162 runners. A week lat- er, she placed 38th at the MIAA All-State Championship with a 20:08.8 mark. Nelson consistently posted sub-21-min- ute times during the season. She finished seventh at the Hockomock League Champion- ship (20:26.5), 31st at the Twilight Invitational (19:56.7) and 13th at the Ocean State Invita- tional (20:38). Nelson also competes for the Foxboro swim team. She was also named a Hockomock League All-Star. Shea Jamieson/ Attleboro The Bombardier sophomore got stronger as the season wore on. Jamieson logged a per- sonal best 5k mark of 20:19.7 at the MIAA Di- vision 1 Championship, good for 34th place. Two weeks later, she compet- ed at the NXR Northeast Regional Championship, finishing 10th in the 5k open invitational (21:30). She also finished eighth at the Hockomock League Champion- ship (20:32.7) and 10th at the Twilight Invita- tional (20:49.9). This is Jamieson’s first Sun Chronicle All-Star selection, and she was also named a Hockomock League All-Star. She is a member of her school’s Leo Club and a three- sport athlete, also competing for the Bombar- dier winter, and spring track and field teams. Bella Pietrasiewicz/Norton Just as the Norton High running program lost some top-caliber talent, it received a boost from some talent- ed underclassmen, led by Pietrasiewicz. The Lancer freshman logged a 5k personal best mark at the MIAA Division 4 Championship (19:33.7). She finished sixth at the Tri-Valley League Championship (20:12.1) and 35th at the MIAA All-State Championship (20:05.2). She won the 3k freshman race at the Frank Mooney Invitational (11:37.2), besting 82 other runners. Pietrasiewicz will also compete for the Norton winter track and softball teams, and also the Hockomock Rox softball program. Pietrasiewicz also broke her school’s 3k record and was named her team’s Rookie of the Year. Erin Quinn/King Philip In her final cross country season, Quinn earned yet another Sun Chronicle All-Star se- lection. The King Phil- ip team captain ran for a season-best 19:46 5k mark during the season. She later claimed sixth place at the Hockomock League Championship (20:00.6) before running at the MIAA Division 2 Championship. Addi- tionally, Quinn logged several sub-21-minute times throughout the season. She was also her team’s lone representative on the Hockomock League All-Star roster. Quinn is a member of Students Against Destructive Decisions and Spanish National Honor Society. She is also a distance runner on the King Philip spring track and field team. Phoebe Dodge/Bishop Feehan While the Shamrocks had a cadre of talent- ed harriers, Dodge was a consistent performer in earning her first Sun Chronicle All-Star selec- tion. Dodge logged her season 5k best time at the Twilight Invitational, finishing 77th at 20:13.1. She helped her team se- cure an Eastern Athletic Conference title, completing the race in eighth place (20:58). Dodge later competed at the Frank Mooney Invitational (20:16.7) and MIAA Division 3 Championship (20:45.4), finishing 10th and 40th in those respective races. She is a member of PAWS, St. Vincent de Paul, the American Red Cross and Shamrockapella, and also participates with Ocean State Ice Theater. She is a three-sport runner. Hannah Bradbury/Seekonk The sophomore was a big contributor for the South Coast Conference champion Seekonk High, helping give the War- riors a strong 1-2 punch. Bradbury’s personal best 5k run came at the SCC Championship, complet- ing the race in 20:38.9 for second place. A week later, she finished eighth at the Frank Mooney Invitational (20:55.3). She also finished 11th at the Twilight Invitational (20:50.6) and 18th at the Frank Kelley Invita- tional. She also competed at the MIAA Divi- sion 5 Championship, where her team finished fifth. Bradbury also participates as a member of the indoor and spring track and field teams. This is her first Sun Chronicle All-Star selec- tion. Margaret Riley/Mansfield The Hornet junior was a standout at the league meet, where she improved 29 place- ments from the previous season. Riley finished 10th at the Hockomock League Championship, finishing at 20:38.6. She logged a personal best 5k time during a dual meet against King Phil- ip, crossing the line at 20:08.0. She also fin- ished 14th at the Frank Mooney Invitational (20:28.55), 100th at the Twilight Invitation- al (20:33.5) and 70th at the MIAA Division 2 Championship (21:05.9). This is Riley’s first se- lection to the Sun Chronicle All-Star Team. She also competes for the Mansfield girls’ ice hock- ey team and spring track and field program as a distance runner. Lauren Magill/Bishop Feehan Magill, a three-sport runner, earned anoth- er designation as a Sun Chronicle All-Star in her final season. She logged a season-best time at the MIAA Division 3 Cham- pionship, a 20:09.4 mark to finish 23rd. She re- corded her team’s best time at the Eastern Ath- letic Conference Cham- pionship, helping her team take home the prize with a 20:17 mark for third place. Magill also finished 13th at the Frank Mooney Invitational (20:24.7), 83rd at the Twilight Invitational and 21st at the Bay State Invitational (20:42.5). She is a member of Bishop Feehan’s Baking for a Cause club. Magill will attend Merrimack Col- lege and compete for the Warriors’ cross coun- try and track and field programs. Abigail Tenreiro/Seekonk The sophomore and three-season runner picked up her second Sun Chronicle All-Star nod. Tenreiro was the South Coast Conference champion, finishing first at the conference meet with a 20:11.4 mark; and she also went unbeaten during conference play. Her personal-best 5k time came at the MIAA Division 5 Champion- ship, where she finished fifth with at 19:12.6. The Warrior also took second at the Frank Mooney Invitational (19:15.3) and 16th at the MIAA All-State Championship (19:13.6). Ten- reiro is a member of her school’s Key Club, Portuguese Club, SPEAK and Student Council. She is currently competing for the Seekonk in- door track and field team. Stephanie Hawkins/North Attleboro In her second season of cross country compe- tition, Hawkins earned her first Sun Chronicle All-Star nod. The junior saved her best times for the end of the season. Hawkins ran a season- best 20:30.4 mark at the MIAA Division 3 Cham- pionship, good for 32nd place. Two weeks earli- er, at the Hockomock League Championship, Hawkins’ 20:33.3 mark earned her ninth place. Hawkins, who was also named a Hockomock League All-Star, is a member of Debate Club and French National Honor Society. She will also compete for the Red Rocketeer indoor and spring track and field programs in a myriad of running events. She will serve as a captain for next year’s team. Abby Hassman/Foxboro The two-time Sun Chronicle All-Star in cross country reeled in Hockomock League MVP honors during her stel- lar sophomore season. She finished first at the league meet with a 19:03 mark, and she went un- beaten in dual meets. Her personal best 5k time came at the Twilight Invitational (18:42.4), good for seventh, and she also finished sixth at the MIAA Division 4 Championship (19:07.7) and 11th at the All- State Championship (18:59.3). Hassman is also a member of History Club, Foreign Language Club and Class Council. The North Attleboro High Red Rocketeers had a pair of upperclassmen they leaned on throughout the season, as senior Angela Kaiser and junior Stephanie Hawkins provided a formidable duo. But perhaps no Hockomock League twosome was better than league MVP Abby Hassman of Foxboro High, along with teammate Lindsey Nelson. Eastern Athletic Conference champion Bishop Feehan also celebrates two Sun Chronicle All- Star nods. Senior Lauren Magill and junior Phoebe Dodge led a deep Shamrock squad. Meanwhile, Seekonk sophomores Abigail Ten- reiro and Hannah Bradbury head a hard-charging Warrior squad. As the seasons shift and local harriers take their running indoors, this year’s top area girls’ cross country per-

formances came from nearly equal slices of three graduating classes.

Three seniors, four juniors, four sophomores and one fresh-man stood out in equal measure among different local high school programs to share in the laurels of The Sun Chron-icle Girls’ Cross Country All-Star Team.

The North Attleboro High Red Rocketeers had a pair of upperclassmen they leaned on throughout the season, as senior Angela Kaiser and junior Stephanie Hawkins provided a formidable duo.

But perhaps no Hockomock League twosome was better than league MVP Abby Hassman of

Foxboro High, along with teammate Lindsey Nelson.
