Smiles Day…a day originally set-aside on September 17, 1919 to welcome home Schuyler County

veterans who had served in World War One.

This year we will celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Smiles Day on Friday, September 20, and will honor all Schuyler County Veterans and active members of the Military as Parade Marshals. For many years the Smiles Day weekend has also been Rushville-Industry “Homecoming” weekend, combining two special celebrations into one big event that has been extended to two days this year.

It seems like the older I get, the more I appreciate our Veterans and what they, and their loved ones, went through for our great country. Like many families in our area, my family has a history of military service. My father and all four of his brothers served, spanning the Korean

War through the Vietnam War, and my son, Shon, is currently a Major in the United States Marine Corps. To all Veterans and those actively serving in our military, and your families, THANK YOU!

Be sure to take some time during the Smiles Day weekend to visit the replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall, honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice during the Vietnam War. The Wall will be on display at the Rushville City Cemetery.

Finally, a big thank you to the Smiles Day Committee for all the work you have done, and continue to do, to make every Smiles Day a success.

Have a great fall, and may God Bless the United States of America!

New ATMs to feature touch screens and enhanced securityThe next time you stop by the bank to use our ATMs, you may find that they’ve

undergone a transformation.

That’s because we will be upgrading to a new generation of ATMs that will come with some cool new features. The new ATMs will feature touchscreens for improved user experience. Additionally, they will be equipped with Diebold’s Easy Edge Card Reader system, which has been shown to be especially effective in thwarting so-called “skimming” fraud.

Although the new ATMs will boast these and other improvements, they will no longer be capable of receiving deposits; however, your friendly Rushville State Bank tellers are more than happy to assist you with ensuring that your funds find their way into your account, or you may use our night depository during non-business hours.

The new ATMs are slated to be installed by the end of this year.

Twenty-six club members traveled with us July 22-25 to the “Creation Museum

and ARK Encounter” in Covington, Kentucky. We

enjoyed a dinner and cruise on the Queen City Riverboat on the Ohio River, while we listened to contemporary gospel music. We toured the Creation Museum and the ARK, as well as Cincinnati and northern Kentucky towns. The ARK was built with biblical dimensions from Genesis 6, which was 510 feet long, 85 feet wide, and 51 feet high and has three levels of world-class exhibits. On the way home we enjoyed lunch and several Guinness World Record constructions in Casey, Illinois.

Our next trip includes a trip to California and the Tournament of Roses Parade, December 29-January 2, 2020. The itinerary for this trip is on our website.

You do not have to be a member of the Premier Club to travel with us. Call 217-322-3323 for more information on our current and upcoming trips!
