Fall is in the air and it is time to say goodbye to the lazy hazy days of summer and fall back into a routine. Just as all students prepare to start a new school year so must we prepare to get into a daily, healthy routine.

Fall is the perfect time for outdoor activities such as biking, walking and hiking and don’t forget raking leaves. Exercise should be fun so find enjoyable activities and don’t be afraid to try new things. A regular exercise regimen will help you feel better and reach and maintain your weight loss goals.

Nurse’s Corner

Now that the cookouts and picnics are over, it’s time to get back to planning and preparing your meals for home and work to help prevent unwise choices. Eat three protein containing meals a day and aim for 60 to 80 grams of protein per day. If there is a time of day you feel that you need a snack chose a healthy snack with protein or some fruits and vegetables.

Now is the time to schedule your yearly appointment if you do not already have one. Be aware of the critical need to continue your vitamins to prevent nutritional deficiencies and to have your yearly lab work checked.

The clocks are due to be set back November 6, so now is the time to refocus and establish those long-term behaviors for success. As we remind our children to make sure summer reading is completed and school supplies are bought so they are prepared for the upcoming school year, we must also lead by example. Let’s make sure we are prepared as much as our children for a successful year ahead.

following the guidelines you learned…you have to really own that also. Only by being truthful about our mistakes can we truly make the changes necessary for long term change. You are in charge!

The surgery doesn’t make you do things “right or wrong” does it? It’s just surgery. You don’t have total control of what the number on a scale might be, but you can make decisions about how you live your life. Many of you have had so much

Just remember these were designed for the Mayo Clinic program.

MyFitnessPalCost: FreeMyFitnessPal wasn’t created specifically for bariatrics, but it does have great features that you can use! It has one of the best food trackers, and we love that you can add your own recipes! In addition, you can easily log exercise, and access other recipes and cooking tips.
