TCU has committed $139 million to the creation of the New Greek Village and will oversee the design, management and funding for the construction ofthe buildings.

This summer work began on the new sorority houses and completion is scheduled for Fall 2017.

Kappa has retained acclaimed designer Joe Minton to do the interior design work. Joe and his team are busy creating a lovely first class interior that will ensure Kappa has the most beautiful house on campus.

Fundraising has commenced and the response tothis “once in a lifetime” project has been verywell received.

Kappa’s Fort Worth Alumnae Association is a mighty group! I am happy to report that at the time of this update, we are 346 strong! That is a great group and I feel certain more will join as the year progresses. There are simply too many great events, programs and opportunities to get involved this year! Perhaps even more exciting than our solid membership numbers is the number of PATRONS. We have a total of 92 members who opted to support the Association as a Patron. That is a 25% increase over last year!! Patrons are anyone paying $100 or more for membership. The additional funds raised from our Patrons make a real difference in the Association’s ability to provide special and meaningful programing and perks to our members. Thank you, ladies, for your generosity and support!

Finally, as you may be aware, we are in the process of moving to the standard Kappa website and on-line system (called GIN.) This should make it easier to update your information with both our local Association and National simultaneously. As we get completely up to date, and even after that happens, please feel free to send me any changes to your information and I will be happy to make those updates for you. Your membership in the Fort Worth Alumnae Association isgreatly appreciated! You make thisAssociation GREAT!

MembershipUpdate:This year’s Founders Day dinner was held at Rivercrest Country Club on

October 13th. We had around 275 Kappa members join us including members of the Epsilon Alpha chapter to help us celebrate and honor our award

winners and pin recipients. We had 27 amazing women attend to receive their pin for either their 25, 50 or 60 -year pin celebration. A big thank you for the

Epsilon Alpha Pickers and New Members for providing us the entertainment.

A Word from the President

Dear Kappa Sisters,I am writing this letter to you thinking of many fond memories of my Kappa days in the 90’s, yes, the 90’s! I love everything about Kappa--the owl, the key, the fleur-di-lis and that good old Blue and Blue!! More importantly, Kappa has brought to me a lifetime of best friends, and new ones that I’ve had the opportunity of bringing into my life as well! The Kappa ideals that we learned about in college are still in my life today. It is an honor and a privilege to be able to serve this organization that has given so much to me and many other Kappas too!Our board consists of women ranging in all age groups and their leadership has been working hard to plan and organize programs that we know Kappas will all enjoy.

Elizabeth Sparks, VP of Programs has put together an exciting calendar of events which began with the Fall Kick off, which was in September at Times Ten Cellars. It was a beautiful evening with a great turn out of Kappas! For our new graduates and alums ages 35 and younger, there is a Night Owl Group cochaired by Ashley Hamm and Brianna Washechek who have scheduled monthly socials. A couple of luncheons are being planned for the Klassic Kappas, chaired by Alicia Wagner Brown. This is a group open to Kappa ladies who have been Kappas 40 years and more.

Founders Day was a great success! Summer Riney and her awards chairs, Riley Donovan and Alicia Kiel, arrangedanother memorable evening! Many Kappas received 25, 50, and 65 year pins! Paige Pate received the Camilla Beall Outstanding Alumnae Award, and Laura High won the Kappa Service Award. A big congratulations goes out to thesetwo well deserving women!

We are blessed beyond measure to have our steering committee raising funds for our new, beautiful Kappa House at TCU! We cannot do it without you! If you’d like to make a donation of $1500, this can even be paid out in three years!! But....every big or small contribution is welcome. Please contact Lauri Lawrence or Vivienne Mays with questions. Find it in your Kappa heart to give!

We are looking forward to one of our very own sisters, Jane Scott Hodges, speaking at Design Inspirations, 2017! This fundraiser will be held March 1st and 2nd at Ridglea Country Club. Kappa Chairs are Anne Wright and Nicole Shelton. We are honored for Gill Children’s Services to again be our charity beneficiary. Gill Children’s Services uses 100% of the funds raised from Design Inspirations to directly purchase medical services for Tarrant County children birth 18 years of age when all their other avenues of assistance have been exhausted and no other resources are available.

Kristin Carmichael and Shannon Berndt have done an amazing job as our Reference/Recruitment Chairs. I had the honor and pleasure of going to Kappa Convention in June, where our very own TCU won a recruitment award--thank you, Kristin and Shannon!! This is quite an honor. We are blessed to be a part of the Fort Worth Alumnae of Kappa Kappa Gamma. I hope you can find a little part of all we are planning that you can join and be involved in! Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or suggestions–[email protected].

Loyally,

Mandy Smith Johnston President
