FALL 2016 AMDA END-OF-SEMESTER STRUCTURE: INFORMATION SHEET FOR STUDENTS
Students are required to remain in attendance for school obligations through Friday, February 10th, 5:30PM
(Some senior performance obligations may continue through Sunday, February 12th
). NOTES: Any Student, who is not present for their Performance Assessments, Demos, etc. (as selected/required) within Week 15, will have the appropriate course grade
reduced one full letter grade. If no course is directly connected to the missed event (i.e.: Performance Assessment), the student’s "Core" course grade will be reduced instead.
Any student who misses their Critical Studies final exam will receive a "zero" for the exam and that zero will be factored into their final course grade. Should there be a
conflict within a student’s schedule, students must notify the Education Dept by Friday of Week 9 (December 16th).
CLASS OBSERVATIONS - Observations usually occur as part of a regularly scheduled class during weeks 12-15.
Observations occur in the following courses: Acting (Acting 1, Acting 2, Acting 3), Musical Theatre (Musical Theatre 1, Musical Theatre 2, Musical Theatre 3), VPS (VPS 1, VPS 2, VPS 3, Dialects), Stage Combat (Stage Combat 1, Stage Combat 2, Stage Combat 3), Individual Voice (all semesters via Music Assessments set for week 15), Dance (dance courses as scheduled by Dance Department).
EXAMS/EVALUATIONS/ASSESSMENTS CRITICAL STUDIES FINAL EXAMS - All Critical Studies courses will conduct final exams within week 15.
PERFORMANCE EVALUATIONS/ASSESSMENTS – Each Degree and Certificate Program (Acting, Music Theatre, Dance
Theatre) conduct end-of-semester Evaluations/Assessments. Each program has their own specific criteria regarding how the assessments are conducted. The schedule for Assessments are listed in the Week 15 timeline. Please ask Education Department if you have questions.
SECTION DEMONSTRATIONS - This is a wonderful opportunity for students to present brief samples of primary
“core program” course work (levels 1-3) to another section of viewing students.
Student sections will be scheduled to present portions of core course work (related to program) within week 15 of the semester. NOTE: certain students may be included in a course’s Section Demo even if the course work is not considered core to their individual
program. This will be based upon whether their course section includes students for whom the course is considered primary. i.e.: an Integrated or BFA MT program student will be included in an ACTING course Section Demonstration if their course section contains Studio or BFA Acting Program students.
Student sections will be paired so that each section has the chance to serve as performer AND audience.
Each demonstrated piece should be no longer than 5 minutes maximum.
DIVISION DEMONSTRATIONS - Every instructor within the Acting, Musical Theatre, Dance, VPS, Vocal Music and
Stage Combat divisions will select one-to-two pieces of exemplary student work from their classes (any level/semester 1-8). The selected works will be presented for faculty.
Division Demonstration selections will be posted for students by Friday, February 3rd
at 5:30pm.
Division Demonstrations will take place throughout Week 15 (February 6th
-10th
).
Pieces must be no longer than 5 minutes max {3 ½ for Dance}(accordingly, selections may require edits/cuts/modifications).
All Division Demonstrations will be considered for inclusion in the Snapshot presentation.
Selections may be viewed during a demonstration screening on Thursday, February 9th
(posted February 8th
).
PRODUCTION HIGHLIGHTS - Selected works from Production/Performances will be considered for the Snapshot Presentation. These
include BFA Play, Staged Reading, Black Box Acting/MT/Dance Projects, BFA Musical, Musical Reading, Dance Concert Production, Showcases, Industry Events, Artists’ Lab Projects, Café Performances, and Raise the Barré.
Production Highlights being considered for Snapshots will be posted on Friday, February 3rd
and viewed for consideration on Tuesday, February 7
th or Wednesday, February 8
th.
Each highlight should be no longer than 5 minutes (max). Works will often be edited and performed without production elements
from the original presentation (e.g.: costume pieces, sets, lighting, etc.). o Selections may be viewed during a demonstration screening on Thursday, February 9
th (posted February 8
th).
SNAPSHOTS - The Snapshot Presentation is a celebration of the diverse and accomplished works that AMDA students explore and perform
within a given semester.
Final selections for Snapshots will be posted/announced on Thursday, February 9th
by 7:00pm.
Selected pieces will be scheduled for brief rehearsals in the performance space on Friday, February 10th
, starting at 9am.
Snapshots will be performed for faculty and staff on Friday, February 10th
at 3pm at Cosmo Stage A.
The entire Snapshot Presentation should last approximately one hour.

• Student obligations are set through Friday of week 15 as scheduled through the Education Department.
• Students are required to remain in attendance for school obligations through Friday, February 10th at 5:30pm (some productions may require student commitments through Sunday, February 12th).
