RECENT PROPERTY IMPROVEMENTS In this newsletter you will see pictures of many property improvements where supplies, materials and/or labor have been donated by groups and individuals to Happy Haven. Graymere Church of Christ painted the barn, the outside of the restroom building, the bridge, and the swing supports; built a concrete pad and installed posts for a new dumpster enclosure; ground up stumps; pruned trees; placed rip rap rock in the ditches; removed mulch and fallen limbs and planted new shrubs at House No. 1. Collegeside Church of Christ worked in the interior of the restroom building and cleaned up our garden spot so it will be ready for spring planting. Sycamore Church of Christ - Servants of Christ (Scott Jefcoat, Joseph Cross, Andrew Coats) moved furniture and cleaned out items to organize two rooms for better use at the office building. Lowes (Alton Johns, Brian Buck and workers) provided and built two new jungle gyms with mulch and a border for the new playground, and brought us a concrete bench. Hibbett Sporting Goods (Eric Webb) provided new basketball hoops and nets, a moveable goal, a volleyball net and an assortment of balls. Michael Thomas provided sand and border to rebuild our volleyball court as his Eagle Scout project. David Fox and Jerry White provided and installed new backboards for our basketball court. Cookeville Junior Women’s Club provided Santa’s Workshop funds to purchase new swings for the entire playground, with money left over to help pay for Basketball Camp and Robo Camp this summer.

We give our sincere thanks and appreciation to these groups and individuals for their generous donation of materials and labor to help the children of Happy Haven by updating our facility.

Our volunteer of the quarter is Dr. Bill Flatt. He has helped Happy Haven in a number of ways. He has served us as a consultant and also as an instructor for continuing education classes for our staff. He has enjoyed informal visits with our children and house parents in a group setting.
