Launching a new season is always exhila-rating, but this fall is particularly thrilling. The Adrienne Arsht Center celebrates its 5th anniversary—and what a time we’re having! The Center has already become an integral part of the city’s landscape—Miami’s new town square where everyone is welcome. Each day the Adrienne Arsht Center—its world-class performances, life-changing education programs, ever-expanding patron amenities, and the leading role it plays in the city’s economic development—helps define the way the world sees our community and enhances Miami’s position as a top international destination. Our programming has grown year by year. This anniversary season brings not only more of our favor-ites—family programs, jazz, gospel, classical music and dance, theater and Broadway musicals—but also introduces several inaugural series featuring the greatest stars of world music, pops, and comedy. We’re building on the extraordinary suc-cesses of our education programs. Last May, more than 26,000 5th graders were invited to see a free performance of Rock Odyssey. This season a whole new wave of Miami-Dade County students will experi-ence the thrill of witnessing live theater, learn to move and to grow at AileyCamp, get the opportunity to ask our era’s greatest performers what it’s like to live the life of an artist. They’ll know—first-hand—that the arts allow people to feel happier in themselves. We have a wonderful 5th Anniversary Season planned for you, and I look forward to seeing your smiling faces.
