The fall drama pro-duction, “The Musical Com-edy Murders of 1940,” opened October 18th, and will continue its run through this Saturday, October 27th. This award-winning play includes lots of physical comedy and plot twist upon plot twist; it will keep

the audience guessing and laughing until the final curtain.

The story: the team responsible for a recent Broadway flop, in which three chorus girls were murdered

by a mysterious “Slasher,” assem-ble for auditions of their new show at the estate of a wealthy patron.

Comic mayhem ensues and the infamous “Slasher” strikes again. Bodies drop in plain sight, knives spring out of nowhere, masked figures drag their victims behind

swiveling bookcases, and accus-ing fingers point in all directions.

However, the mystery is even-tually solved and the “Slash-er” unmasked—but not before the audience has been treated

to sidesplitting entertain-ment and the author’s re-freshingly irreverent wit.

VHS Drama Director Ms. Malia Jakus is certain her troupe is ready for “such an ambi-tious show,” noting that there are “a lot of juicy parts for [the] drama department.” Kendy Espinal, prop manager, has been busy making and locating the many props for the play, and, like all the thespians, is excited about the stage renovations, which include a new floor, new lights, and a new sound system.

VisionThe vision of VHS is S.O.A.R. (Success, Opportunity, Achievement, Respect)

Mission StatementVilseck High School Mission is to provide an exemplary education that inspires and prepares all

DoDEA students for success in a dynamic, global environment.

Want to know who will be your boss in twenty years? It’s the kids on the Vilseck High school Robotics Team!

Mr. Chanin, the team spon-sor, says robotics students “have to work as a team, apply engineering pro-cesses, and solve real world problems.” The team starts with a box of parts, no plans, and the students use their engi-neering skills to build a robot and decide how to program it for the competition.

The robotics’ team will have a home advantage during the com-petition due to the fact that it will be held at Vilseck High School this spring! The competition is being held through a pilot pro-

gram that is introducing its first technology challenge to Germany.

The objective of this competition is for the robots to pick up dif-ferent types of plastic rings and hang them on hooks on a center post that will be placed in the middle of the square field where the competitions take place.

Four different schools will come together to make two different teams or alliances, during each

competition. This means that the robotics club has to be able to work well with other people, because they have to work with people they are competing against.

The first thirty seconds of the competition, the robot is required to be pre-programmed with in-structions, while the re-maining two minutes will

be controlled by team members.

Students who participate in this program become eligible for scholarships and learn valu-able skills to last them a lifetime!
