As I write, my heart is full of life and joy
because of God. It's by far, the greatest experience
and place to be. I know this because God has made
His presence known through VBS. I'm sitting in the
VBS worship area listening to the children's praise
and worship, viewing the pictures of children, and
reminiscing of the children and volunteers God
blessed us with and the moments we've shared
together with God.
It all adds much more meaning to Jesus's
own words in Luke, ""Let the little children come to
me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God
belongs to such as these." Here, you discern the
value Jesus places on children. His indignant
response to the disciple's shooing the children away.
Jesus thwarting their efforts demonstrates God's
value of children and the profound Kingdom
teaching through His actions and words. He echoes
the truth about children being a heritage and reward
from the Lord, Psalm 127:3-5.
Join me this coming Lord's Day as we
celebrate God's Kingdom value of children and their
families with a baptism of a new born child and a
VBS celebration emphasis as well.

Welcome New Members Welcome to our newest church members, Jack and Rose Ann Kile! They have been part of our family for a while, but now they are official. We are so blessed to have them in our midst. If you haven't had a chance to give them the right hand of Christian Fellowship, please do so when you next see them.
Thanks to the generosity of our members, we collected $1,892 more than the new sound system ended up costing us. The Finance Committee has recommended and Session has agreed that these excess funds should be transferred to the church General Fund (which will eventually spend these and any other required funds to maintain the sound system as it does all other church systems and facilities). If anyone who donated towards this much needed system wishes to have their donation returned rather than transferred, please notify the church office BEFORE July 31, 2018.

Donate Your Eyeglasses!!
Do you have a few pair of old eyeglasses
just sitting in a drawer, taking up
space? Why don't you donate them at
church. We have a collection box in the
Narthex. When the box is full, we
donate those to the Farragut Lions
Club. These glasses are taken to a
recycle center and then the recycled
glasses are distributed to people in need
in low and middle income communities
where they will have the greatest
impact. If you have any questions,
please contact Frances Poore at (865)
599-0083 or [email protected].
Gideons Card Ministry The Gideons International, founded in 1899 in
Wisconsin, is an association of Christian business
and professional men and their wives dedicated to
telling people about Jesus through sharing personally
and by providing Bibles and New
Testaments. While they are known worldwide for
their work with hotels, they predominately share
Scriptures in schools and colleges, prisons and jails,
hospitals, and medical offices.
The Gideons have a card ministry that we would like
to share with our church. You may donate Bibles in
someone's name through this ministry. They have a
wide range of cards including sympathy, get well,
thank you, in memory, pastor appreciation, birthday,
recognition, and encouragement. We have placed a
card rack on the wall across from the large Sunday
School classroom at the west entrance to our
church. To donate Bibles to honor someone special,
all you have to do is choose a card, personalize the
card by filling out the blanks, add your message and
send the card. To donate Bibles, just complete the
orange donation envelope inside the card and mail it
to The Gideons International address on the front of
the envelope.
Each $5 donation places a Bible in the hands of a
person who needs one anywhere around the world.
