Skyhawk Parents - We need your help with AfterProm planning!
For many years (over 20) a group of volunteers has worked together to provide a safe and fun experience for our Fairborn High School Juniors and Seniors. This
event is called “AfterProm” and is held every year in the McClin Gym at Wright State University. The event, which includes volleyball, basketball, DJ-dancing, food,
games, and rented activities such as bull riding, and mini-race cars, starts at 11:30 p.m. and lasts until 3:30 a.m. after the Prom dance. Volunteers help decorate,
secure door prizes, and help pick up and deliver food for the event. The committee needs “young” parents to begin to transition in so that the tradition will be around
for future generations. Many of the current committee members children have

Preparing for Winter Weather & Possible Delays The winter season is upon us, and with it comes the potential for sleet, freezing rain, ice and snow. The Superintendent and Director of Business Affairs keep an
eye on the weather forecasts and personally check local road conditions as early as 4:00 in the morning when deciding whether or not to delay or cancel school.
How can you get cancellation and delay information quickly?
Tune in to local Dayton radio/television stations
Check the FCS homepage at www.fairborn.k12.oh.us
Sign up for “e-Communication” subscription texts/emails at the FCS website
Follow the Skyhawks on Facebook and Twitter
Check school cable channel 6
Tips for 2-hour delays:
Busses will pick up students 2 hours after their regular bus-stop time
School starts at 9:20 a.m. and dismisses at 2:10 p.m.
Any before-school club meetings are not held on 2-hour delay days
There will be no breakfast served on 2-hour delay days
Attention Parents of Juniors!
Now is the time to schedule your student’s
State-Mandated Senior Meningitis Vaccination
The Ohio Department of Health has specific School Immunization Requirements for
students. Students must be vaccinated against meningococcal disease (MCV4) prior to
entering their 12th grade school year. This means that your 11th grade student must
provide the School Nurse with documentation of being vaccinated BEFORE the start
of their senior year 2018-2019.
PLEASE NOTE YOUR STUDENT MUST HAVE THE MENINGOCOCCAL
VACCINE AFTER AGE 16 TO MEET THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE LAW. NOTE: The timing of this vaccine is of critical importance. To meet the requirements for the
meningococcal vaccine, two doses are required. The second dose must be given after your
student's 16th birthday. However, if your student receives their first meningococcal vaccine
after their 16th birthday, then only one dose is required.
As soon as your student receives the meningococcal vaccine provide a copy of the
information to the School Nurse. Don’t wait – Be sure to ask about the vaccine at
your child’s annual checkup this school year.
