From the CurricUNET menu (left side), under the Search menu heading click Course NOTE: Search function is available without login information

Enter search criteria For a broad search, select Status and Discipline. To narrow criteria, select any combination of the following fields:

Creating a new course 2 options (start from scratch or create a new course from an existing one)

Log into Santiago Canyon College’s CurricUNET webpage at http://curricunet.com/sccc Enter User Name and Password

From the CurricUNET menu (left side), under the Build menu heading click Courses

From the CurricUNET menu (left side), under the Course menu heading click Create Course

Under the Create New Course window:

Select appropriate Discipline from dropdown. Access is limited to designated departments. Assign Course Number. Verify with Curriculum Office to see if # is available. Enter Course Title, Catalog Description and Course Justification. For Spell Check, click icon. VERY CAREFULLY* select the appropriate Proposal Type from drop down.

* selecting incorrect proposal can stall approval processes

All pages* listed under the Course Checklist menu (right side) must be updated and ‘Finish’ed before submission for approvals *Pages not required are asterisked

COURSE COVER page

If course is cross listed, select appropriate discipline from Same-As Course dropdown. Catalog Course description auto populates from ‘Create New Course’ window. Use text editor tools for special formatting of text. Enter Course Purpose Catalog Justification description auto populates from ‘Create New Course’ window. Enter Proposed Start: Year and Semester Select Fall semester of next academic year Apprenticeship courses select APPR or AP321 All other course select Not Apprenticeship Select ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ for Pass/No Pass, Open Entry/Open Exit and Is this course shared with SAC? Click Save to stop and return at another time Click Finish to complete page for submission

COURSE UNITS/HOURS page Select if ‘Yes’ if Variable Units

Enter Units, Lecture Hours, Laboratory Hours, and Arranged Hours. Total Semester Contact Hours auto populates Enter Lecture and/or Laboratory for LHE Select appropriate Repeatability from dropdown. LMT is for Apprenticeship courses only. Grading Schemes auto populates based on Proposal Type* selected when course was initially created *See previous screen shot of ‘Create New Course’ Click Save to stop and return at another time Click Finish to complete page for submission

STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOME page Enter Student Learning Outcome Text.

Enter Assessment of the SLO listed above Select appropriate radio buttons for the SLO listed above. Check one box for each category. Click Add. Repeat steps above and enter another SLO. After a 2nd SLO, Finish button will appear Click Save to stop and return at another time Click Finish to complete page for submission

Once ‘Finish’ed, Student Learning Outcomes page under Course Checklist will be green and check marked

COURSE CONTENT page Total Hours Needed auto populates from ‘Course Units/Hours’

page Here is where course content is broken down. For each topic: Enter Lecture or Lab hours. Unless lecture and lab hours are taught simultaneously, each topic must have separate instructional methods for content Lab content can be condensed into one course content entry. Lab content does not have to be broken up into its components. Enter Course Content Text Enter Objective Text Click Add after each entry of topic. Once the entered total content hours match total hours needed, three check marks appear at bottom Click Finish to complete page for submission

In order for page to be complete, YOU MUST SEE THREE GREEN CHECK MARKS

Once ‘Finish’ed, Course Content page under Course Checklist will be green and check marked

METHODS OF EVALUATION page

Select all Methods that apply. Enter any other Additional assessments. If a method is missing from the list, let the Curriculum Office know and one can be created. Methods of Evaluation should not be confused with Instructional Methods (to be discussed) Click Save to stop and return at another time Click Finish to complete page for submission

Textbook Enter Textbook data. Format Author as instructor on screen CAPITALIZE book titles Textbook cannot be older than 5 years without a rationale ISBNs should not include dashes Click Add after each textbook.

Manual Enter Manual data. Click Add after each manual.

Periodical Enter Periodical data. Click Add after each periodical.

Software Enter Software data. Click Add after each software.

Other Enter any materials that are not listed above here. Such materials include electronics, supplies, technology/websites, and specialty items from the bookstore.

Once ‘Finish’ed, Course Materials page under Course Checklist will be green and check marked

REQUISITES* page *Not required for all submissions - ONLY courses with requisites

Select Requisite Type from drop down Click Add after each requisite Select Course # and Title Select Approval Code Add Comment or Non Course Requirement Use Condition if you are going to add any additional or other prerequisites. If only one Requisite, click Add and then Finish.

To add multiple requisites (selecting a Condition of ‘and’, ‘and/or’ or ‘or’); repeat previous steps

Enter all materials available to the students in the library for this particular course here in Library Resources

Once all required pages are ‘Finish’ed, a blue Submit button will appear in the CurricUNET menu.

Course will enter approval process. Next step – articulation review.

To check status of proposed courses click My Proposals on the CurricUNET menu (left side) under Track.

Revising a new course

Log into Santiago Canyon College’s CurricUNET webpage at http://curricunet.com/sccc Enter User Name and Password

From the CurricUNET menu (left side), under the Build menu heading click Courses

From the CurricUNET menu (left side), under the Course menu heading click Course Modification

Under ‘Course Search’ window, search for course you wish to revise.

You can search by any combination of Status, Discipline, Course Number and Course Title Click OK

Under ‘Course Search Results’ window, search for course you wish to revise.

Click the ‘Copy’ button for the course you wish to revise.

Under ‘Course Review Proposal’ window, select the appropriate Proposal Type from the dropdown menu. Click Next.

Under the next ‘Course Review Proposal’ window, enter a Rationale. Click OK.

All pages* listed under the Course Checklist menu (right side) must be updated and ‘Finish’ed before submission for approvals *Pages not required are asterisked

COURSE COVER page

Verify or revise the following fields: Discipline, Course Number, Course Title, Same-As Course, Catalog Course Description, Course Purpose, Justification, Which type of course is this?, Pass/No Pass, Open Entry/Open Exit Is this course shared with SAC? Enter Justification. This field is required for State submission to explain the role of the course in a program or general education. Click Save to stop and return at another time Click Finish to complete page for submission

, icon Make the appropriate revision. Click Save. To add a Student Learning Outcome, enter Outcome Text and Assessment, then select the appropriate radio buttons below. Click Add. Click Finish to complete page for submission

Once ‘Finish’ed, Student Learning Outcomes page under Course Checklist will be green and check marked

COURSE CONTENT page

Total Hours Needed auto populates from ‘Course Units/Hours’ page To edit or update Course Content, click the edit, , icon Make the appropriate revision. Click Save. To add Course Content, enter Approximate Time in Hours: Lecture or Lab*, Unless lecture and lab hours are taught simultaneously, each topic must have separate instructional methods for content Course Content Text and Objective Text. Click Add after each entry of topic. *Lab content can be condensed into one course content entry. Lab content does not have to be broken up into its components. To delete Course Content, click the delete, , icon Click Yes when prompted , “Are you sure you wish to delete this information?” Once the entered total content hours match total hours needed, three check marks appear at bottom

In order for page to be complete, YOU MUST SEE THREE GREEN CHECK MARKS
