Being a doctor has been my dream since I was a little child, since I knew nothing about the world, since I had no idea how it would be like to have your own profession. And here I am, an Albanian girl, born and grown up in Tirana, but studying medicine in Ankara, at YBU, at another continent, 1200 kilometers away from my hometown. Of course it isn’t easy, but it is a special pleasure to know that you are doing what you love and are having a great experience, not only in a foreign city, but also at a great university that is trying its best to fulfill my wishes and help me realize my dream of becoming a doctor. I don’t think there is only one reason why I chose medicine or why I came to this university; I would say that luck brought me here, but I would also say that almost 5 years from now, I will have many things to give to the world, with all the knowledge that my university will give me and I will be happier than ever to learn that what I took from this great and unforgettable experience at YBU, will be given back to it, not with my words or writings, but with my devotion to the most beau-tiful profession.

Our faculty has an experienced, young and dynamic teaching staff that has degrees from leading universities in the U.S., Europe, and Turkey. It was founded to educate medical doctors who have a strong infrastructure with contemporary knowledge and skills, advanced research and problem-solving abi-lities. Doctors who depend on values of both medicine and universal ethics, are determined to lifelong learning, can renew themselves consistently, are able to use health technology decently, are not contented with only diagnosis and treatment of patients, keep preventive medicine and community health at the forefront and make serving humanity their object. Thanks to the special cooperation, student exchange programs such as Eras-mus and Mevlana are available for our students. At our university, faculty students clubs help students develop themselves in many areas and strengthen friendships.

The reason why I chose Yıldırım Beyazıt University Faculty of Medicine was that the university has a vision to grow and develop in the field and because our main working area is human beings, to which I believe our university gives more importance. During our education, our university aims at raising well-equipped stu-dents, which also was one of the reasons for me to choose Yıldırım Beyazıt Univer-sity. Moreover, although our number is small, we receive our education in one of the largest hospitals in Ankara with the most qualified lecturers in their fields, whi-ch makes a difference. Also our lecturers are enthusiastic about transferring their knowledge to us, which is quite motivating. Because of these reasons, I strongly belive that our university will be a top university in the field of medicine in the foreseeable future.
