in British Universities and was keen to incorporate lawas a culminating discipline conducive to the moral, intellectual and material welfare of the students, pass-ing out from the MAO College. A beginning was madewith the three local pleaders providing part-timeinstruction on an honorary basis. Meanwhile, thesearch for a Law Professor was seriously undertakenby constituting a search committee consisting of Mr.Justice Douglas Straight and Mr. Justice Mahmood ofthe Allahabad High Court and Sir Arthur Strachey whowas a practicing lawyer. The committee recommendedMir Karamat Husain for appointment as the first LawProfessor of the MAO College. He joined on July12,1891.
