    Minutes:

    Competitions

Faculty competitions: Business and ICT to combine on running a competition possible focus to design a marketing campaign for a business outsidejudge for competition TBA. Is this worth looking for an external partner fromlocal community?

    Intervention and Behaviour Monitoring

Intervention completed and point made that behaviour monitoring sheetsreplicate some of the process of intervention is this a good use of time or isit making work for the sake of it?

Weekly behaviour analysis being used to inform on-going intervention but notanalytically to spot trends

    Exams analysis

Exams analysis completed and ICT already doing QLA though not formalised.

FL produces an overview for students of the strength and weaknesses inexams as a standard part of the ICT intervention. CL noted that BusinessGCSE is multiple choice making a QLA relatively easy to complete. Bothaiming to complete these on this years mocks to continue the good practicealready underway.

Point made that this kind of intervention is not always formalised when butalways obvious from the marking and discussed in departments beforefeeding back to students.

    Learning skills and Values

Not embedded in displays at present but all departments are keen for this tohappen HL to send Values display panels to Anna for lamination for whole of

    faculty.

Skills being used in most subjects because of the nature of those subjectsand the fact that those skills are embedded into the specs. Language istherefore also being used in class (MI observed MO this week) but thereperhaps room to remind students of it through display and SoW.

    CPD

Not all of faculty have completed online CPD and this needs to be done ASAPand then signed off.

    SUBJECT REVIEWS

ICT underway will be copied to HL

    Year 9 options and 6th

    form

Departments not in the loop for options choices planning departments missCMT and the dissemination of information through that forum. HL I thinkthere is an argument to have CMT once a term while formalising Facultymeets to discuss points raised in CMT and developments from.

ICT request to be in A&B if BTEC in B&C so that BTEC students can alsochoose ICT this could improve numbers.Business is happy to run BTEC option from year 10 for suitable students aswell as GCSE.

6th form Evening point made that 20 subjects each presenting for 2-3minutes with possible overruns will mean an hour+ of chat and slides forparents and students not necessarily the best use of the evening. It wassuggested that Faculty Head and Core should present on behalf keepingthis shorter and also raising the profile of the faculties as entities. Not to

diminish the importance of subjects but to better communicate to the parentsand prospective students. HL to discuss with HU and email DL regardingaction for next weeks open evening.

Choices at 6th raised discussion about MY: why Physics is not offered, howEngineering could be a good choice for some of our students but we are notable to offer at present. CL Engineering and German go well together andprovide good skills for employment. CL A level Business is asked for. FL some students say that ICT is a soft A level computer science discussed

but also identified as very difficult and needs involvement from Maths. HL could we nurture in KS3 through extra curricula and collaboration with Maths.CL 6
