4. ChiefExecutiveOfficerReport(10minutes)• TheNMLegislaturewillholdaspecialsessiontodiscussthebudgetofhighereducation.

Atthispoint,itisdifficulttopredicttheoutcome.• TheStateLegislaturedidnotholdahearingtoconfirmthetwoGovernor-nominated

candidatesfortheUNMRegents,JohnRyanandAlexRomero.ThusJackFortnerandBradleyHosmerwillremainontheBoarduntilnextyear'slegislativesessiondespitetheirexpiredterms.

• TheselectionofUNM’snewpresidentmightbedelayeduntilnextacademicyear.


• AnnSwancer,AssociateDirectorofITCustomerServiceatMainCampusvisitedValencia’sITareaandtouredouroperation.ShehadalsometwithourITstaff.TherewasadiscussionaboutanorganizationmoveofValencia’sITservicetoMainCampus;althoughnothingisconfirmed.

• UNMmightimplementa5%increaseinhealthcarepremium.Wewillknowby4/7.• RosaAulettawillberetiringthissemester;butwillstayandworkata25%capacityasa

grantmanagertohelpwiththetransitionofthenewgrantmanager.CindyShuewillworkata50%capacityasthegrantmanager.

• Dr.LetteneythankedMiriamChavez’sworkastheCo-PIoftheStemGrant.• StephanieBourgeoisistherecipientofthe2017CocaColaFoundationScholarshipin

thecategoryofCommunityCollegeAcademicTeamSilverScholar.• TheDanielsFundhasallocated$15,000toValencia’sscholarshipfund.Itisdesignated

specificallyforstudentswhoareworkingandarenotqualifiedforPELLGrant.• Dr.Letteneyaskedeveryonetonotworryaboutbudgetcuts.Shefurtherreassured

everyonethatValenciaisfinanciallystablebecausethegrantsthatwerebroughtinwillhelptheCampusinthenextfewyears.

4. DeanofInstructionReport(10minutes)

• Dr.MusselwhitecalledforanapplauseforMarj.ThesitevisitbyateamofthreefromtheAccreditationCommissionforEducationinNursing(ACEN)wasasuccess.Upontheirdeparture,theTeamnotifiedusthattheNursingProgramwillberecommendedtotheNMBoardofNursingforapproval.ItwillbeofficialbyAugust.

• RosaintroducedAmandaCurry,campus’newcounselor.CurrentlyhousedintheLearningCenter,AmandaisworkingwithMaincampus’SHAConthereferringprocessandpolicy.HermainfocusistoensurethegraduationofSTEMstudentsatValencia.

• Dr.Musselwhiteannouncedseveralupcomingcampusevents.TheyarePieDayonMarch23.ReadingforWomen’sHistoryMonthonMarch30.AnnualTownHallonApril5at11AM.End-of-semesterFacultymeetingonApril7from9to11AM.Finally,EarthDaywillbeheldonApril20.Everyoneisencouragedtobringaliteroftabwaterforafreewatertesting.

• OnApril10,ateamfromtheSunPathGrantwillbevisitingourcampus.TheGrantexpiresSEP2017.

• Dr.MusselwhitepresentedtheAnnualPerformanceReviewFormandtheTenure&Promotionformthatfacultycurrentlyuse.Shesaidthetwoformsoughttomirroreachother.Shewillworkwithdivisionchairs.SheaskedforavotetochangetheAnnualReviewtoexcellence,effective,andineffective.However,theT&PCommitteehavealreadyvotedtoadoptthecriteria.

• TheFacultySenateapprovedtheproposaltoestablishtheMaster’sprogramonNativeAmericanStudies.IfapprovedbytheRegents,theProgramwillbeginacceptingstudentsFall2018.

SectionFCommittee—ElaineClark(3minutes)SectionsF10,F70,and100havegonetotheFacultySenatesecretaryandtheFacultyOperationsCommittee.F80hassomeminorchangesandisbeingheldback.ItwillmoveforwardatthebeginningofFallsemester.TheSectionFTaskForcemembershavebeendiscussingF90.BranchCampusesareaskedtoreplacetheterm“professionaldevelopment”with“scholarwork”andtodecidehowtoevaluatethethreecriteria:excellent,effective,andineffective.TheTaskForcewillmeetnextFRItoworkoutF90.

• Shewishedeveryoneluckfortherestofthesemester.

9. NewBusiness/Announcements

• SarahGardecollected22formsfromthe“ZipGrade”assessmentandpresentedtheresults.

• MarjthankedeveryoneforhelpingwiththeACENsitevisit.

• JohnAbramsannouncedthathisofficehasseveralupcomingprojectstobeimplementedinthesummer.

v Thefirstoneisaprintprojectwhichistoreplaceandconsolidatesalltheprintersoncampus.Whentheprojectiscompleted,studentswillhaveastipendforprintingintheclassroomusingtheirLoboCards.

v Thesecondprojectinvolvesupgradingallthewiringandfiber-opticlinesforthecomputers.Hehopestherewillbenoortheleastamountofinterruption.

v Thethirdprojectistoupgradetheclassroomequipment.BCT113and111haveupgradedequipmentifyouwishtohaveapreview.Thisprojectwill


benefitallstudents,especiallyonlinestudents.ThisprojectwillbegintodeploynewequipmentafterthissemesterendsandwillbecompletebySummer2018.
