Our Aesthetic Practitioner, Dr Sally-Anne Eddie will carry out a facial analysis to discuss your concerns and suggest treatments designed to subtly enhance your appearance. Her aim is to help patients look good for their age with a visage that is natural, fresh and well rested. In other words, to present a better portrayal of themselves – one that is fresh, but never frozen. To this end, she employs the discrete use of injectable anti-wrinkle treatments and subtle use of dermal fillers to soften facial lines and enhance and rejuvenate the appearance.

Sally-Anne uses only top quality, clinically proven products, including Botox® and Juvéderm®. All treatment is provided to the highest of standards in a RQIA regulated clinical environment. A complimentary in-depth consultation will be provided, enabling discussion of your areas of concern, allowing any questions to be asked, enabling you to feel comfortable and confident in your chosen treatment. What is the difference between Botox® and Dermal fillers?Both treatments involve injections, but Botox® restricts the muscle movement that results in wrinkles, while dermal fillers simply plump out and smooth wrinkles. These treatments may sometimes be combined in order to achieve the best possible effect.

BOTOX®Wrinkles and fine lines aren’t just tell-tale signs of ageing; frown lines and wrinkles around the eyes, like crows feet, can make you look tired or ‘hard’.

What is Botox®?Botox® is a naturally purified protein that works as a muscle relaxant. It is often prescribed by doctors in the UK to treat medical conditions such as chronic migraines, eyelid spasms and hyerhidrosis (excessive sweating in the armpits, hands and feet).

What can Botox® be used for?As we get older, it is natural for wrinkles, brow furrows and forehead lines to appear. This can often be caused by weakened collagen in the skin because of excessive sun exposure, gravity, excess facial movement or genetic pre-disposition.

Botox® can be used to treat facial lines caused by the action of these muscles on the skin, through anti-wrinkle injections. It reversibly relaxes facial muscles to smooth those unwanted wrinkles and stop deeper lines forming.

How soon will I notice results?It normally takes between five to seven days for Botox® injections to work.

How long does Botox® last?You may need to repeat the treatment approximately every three to four months in order to maintain your fresh and natural appearance.

Is there any downtime?Treatment usually takes around 20 minutes. A little bruising may occur, which can be easily camouflaged with make-up. There is no downtime and you can resume normal daily activities right away.

Will the injections hurt?You should feel merely a mild sting on your skin that lasts seconds.

In what sort of areas can Botox® help?Botox® can help by:

• Diminishing the deep creases between eyebrows, crow’s feet and forehead lines.

• Reversing a puckered or pointy chin by relaxing the muscle that causes the puckering, creating a smooth, dimple-free chin.

• Reducing the appearance of a gummy smile.

Are there any side effects?It is possible that you may experience a headache or localised reactions such as redness, swelling, irritation or bruising. If they occur, these side effects are usually mild to moderate and reversible. Slight drooping of the eyelid or visual disturbances are very rare side effects.

GUMMY SMILE TREATMENT WITH BOTOX®A gummy smile is a phenomenon that occurs when some people smile and their upper lip elevates excessively above their upper teeth, exposing gums and producing, what many feel, is an unattractive smile. This has several causes. One of the causes is a hyperactive muscle which elevates the upper lip. Occasionally, the gummy smile is also aggravated by a thin upper lip that further contributes to the problem by exposing the upper gum even more. Fortunately, a gummy smile can be simply and effectively corrected by Botox® injections to reduce the activity of the muscle that elevate the upper lip.

TreatmentA small amount of Botox® will be injected at both sides of the junction of the nostril and nose to mouth fold to weaken the muscles. Within the next three to four days, elevation of the upper lip will gradually reduce, showing less gum and increasing confidence to smile without inhibition. The full result will be achieved around two weeks after the treatment.

Post treatmentAvoid touching, massaging or applying cosmetics or creams to the area for six hours.

Suitability for treatmentA medical assessment will be carried out initially to exclude pre-existing medical conditions, including:

• Diseases that affect the muscles and nerves, such as Myasthenia Gravis or Lambert-Eaton Syndrome

• Allergies to any botulinum toxin products

• Medication

• History of facial surgery or plans to have surgery in the future

• Pregnant or planning to become pregnant or breastfeeding

Are there any potential side effects?Injection-related side effects are minimal and temporary and may include some redness, swelling or bruising. Spreading of the Botulinum toxin to nearby muscle can cause temporary relaxation. This can be easily prevented by avoiding rubbing or massaging the treated areas for approximately four hours post operatively.

How long will the results last?The results last from four to six months. The longevity of the result is variable and each individual may obtain a different result. A plan for regular follow-up treatments to maintain the initial result can be created. Our treatment provides a long-lasting but not permanent result, allowing the option of refining your treatment in tune with changing taste and fashion.

What will happen if I stop having the treatment?Your smile will go back to where it was. You can stop and start having treatment again whenever you prefer, providing you are suitable.

DERMAL FILLERSWhat are dermal fillers?These are clear hyaluronic acid gels which closely mimic the natural hyaluronic acid in our skin. When we age, our skin looses natural hyaluronic acid, which is the main reason the skin becomes dry and decreases in volume. Other factors, such as gravity, hormonal changes, sun exposure, environmental stress (including smoking), lead to folds, sagginess and wrinkle formation.

As our skin ages, the facial youthful contours of cheeks and lips diminish. Replenishing hyaluronic acid recreates a more youthful appearance. The dermal fillers are injected just beneath the surface of the skin and are one of the most popular treatments for smoothing fine lines and wrinkles. Hyaluronic acid volumises, softens and hydrates the skin. It also aids collagen and elastin organisation underneath the skin, which gives the skin a more youthful appearance.

What can dermal fillers be used for?They can be used most effectively and naturally to restore areas of lost volume in the face that occur as we age, contributing to sagging. Strategic and skilful placement of filler can lift and support the face naturally.

• They can smooth fine lines on the forehead and lower face

• Moderate lines in the mouth to chin area and the nose to mouth corners can be softened

• Cheeks and chins can be remodelled and given more definition

• Scars can be minimised

• Lips can be defined or enhanced, subtly and naturally

• Vertical lines around the mouth (Smokers lines) can be smoothed and filled out for a much softer, younger effect

• Lost facial volume can be restored

How soon will I notice results?You will notice the difference immediately.

How long do dermal fillers last?Dermal fillers are not permanent and will break down over time (approximately nine to twelve months, depending on the area treated), so further treatment may be required to maintain a natural, understated appearance.

Is there any downtime?Treatment usually takes approximately 30 minutes. There is little or no downtime and you can resume normal activities right away. Being a natural substance found in the body, hyaluronic acid based fillers are extremely unlikely to produce an allergic reaction.

Will the injections hurt?Most dermal fillers contain a local anaesthetic. You should feel merely a light sting on your skin during the injection procedure.

Are there any side effects?You may experience temporary tenderness, redness, swelling or, in rare cases, bruising. Any redness usually settles within hours, swelling and most bruising in a few days. Other rare side effects include granulomas and, very rarely, damage to blood vessels that can lead to tissue damage.

LIP ENHANCEMENT Lips are an important part of facial beauty and many people regard fuller lips as desirable. These can be created using material naturally found in the body. A simple, safe, temporary dermal filler treatment can add volume and definition, which can enhance small, thin lips.

The procedure can also balance out asymmetrical lips or reduce the appearance of fine, vertical lines, often known as ‘lipstick lines’.

What does the procedure involve?Prior to treatment, topical anaesthetic will be applied to make the area numb. Dermal filler is injected at precise locations into your lips and is then massaged to smooth the product.

Post-treatmentAvoid touching or applying make-up on the treated area for six hours to prevent infection. The results are immediate and last from six to twelve months. As the results are relatively temporary, adjustments can be made as your face changes over time so that you can always retain a natural look.

• Vermillion border of lip outline- for creating definition, width and improve lipstick bleeding lines

• Lip augmentation targeting the fleshy part of the upper and lower lip - for volume, pout and fullness

• Cupid’s bow definition- adds definition and contouring

• Oral commissures or lines going down from the sides of the mouth - for a younger, happier look

• Marionette lines (sad lines from corner of lips downwards)

• Philtrum ridges that go from upper lip towards the nose can be made more defined

• Perioral lines or fine vertical lines on the upper lip, often due to smoking, can be reduced
