    My experience attending the Impe-

rial Valley Mall Job Fair was sur-

prising and exciting as well. When

I arrived at the mall, it seemed as

there were hundreds of people out-

sideof the store waiting in line toenter. I couldn't help but feel nerv-

    ous and intimidated. There were

    people who looked so experienced

and I felt as I was the complete

    opposite. This wholeexperience

was a first time overall. It was my

first time applying for my first job.

Once I walked through the sliding

doors, I knewI had to show the

confident and relentless side of me

    that would notaccept anything

less than what I deserved.I would

just show them my true personal-

ity. The first table I applied forwas a store called Aeropostale.I

    provided the managers with my

    resume and references. Once eve-

    rything wasfilled out andrevised,

they asked me a couple of ques-

tions and I was hired on the spot! I

was the first person to be hired at

the Imperial Valley Mall Job Fair

that day. It was an honorand huge

    accomplishment. I am so proudof

myself because from that point on,

it was just a reminder of what Iam

    capable of accomplishing and I

knowI will be successful no mat-ter where I go.

Iam grateful for HelinaHoyt formaking time to give a presentationto both FACES and CNAstudents. Iam also thankful to Southwest HighSchool for hosting the presentation.Listening to what Mrs. Hoyt had tosay about her career brought to meanew perspective towardsnursing. There are many

aspects that I personally didn t knowabout nursing. For example, the dif-ferent areas of specialization avail-able. Furthermore, I feel presenta-tions such as this one can be helpfulto expand ourhorizons, explore theopportunity to set our eyes onthedifferent areas of healthcare avail-able, or simply influence us to find

out if beinghealthcare provid-ers istruly a career we want to pur-sue.

    friend Maria Skarlett Hernandez

and I had a wonderful time talk-

    ing, and explaining to board

    members of the Vesper Society

    how important and valuable are

youth in the Imperial County and

the great amount of help IVROP

    provide us through their wonderful

    programs, such as Imperial

County Faces for the Future (ICFF)

    and Training Opportunities for

    Youth (TOY).

The wonderful experience at theVesper meeting held in Oakland,

CA was truly ground breaking and

amazing. For me, meeting with such

    important people was incredible

and a blessing to represent not only

myself but IVROP programs as well.

The feedback that I received fromthe Vesper Society Board members

inspired me to speak my voice

even more. I engaged in the meet-

    ing conversation to explain how

good of an education Im getting,

to how IVROP has helped, and

what do we need to improve as a

    community. My partner and
