    LIMITATIONS

    TCAS II SYSTEM OPERATION LIMITATIONS

Pilots are authorized to deviate from their current ATC clearance to the extent necessary to complywith a TCAS II resolution advisory (RA).

Following a TCAS II "clear of conflict" advisory, the pilot should expeditiously return to the applicableATC clearance unless otherwise directed by ATC.

    EMERGENCY PROCEDURES

In the event of an engine failure:

    TCAS .............................................................................................................................. TA ONLY

    ABNORMAL PROCEDURES

    MODE S TRANSPONDER FAILURE

Change in ATC color code (green to cyan).

    ATC1 / ATC2 selection ............................................................................................... 1 to 2 or 2 to 1

    TCAS II SYSTEM FAILURE

Yellow TCAS FAIL message on both PFD and

Yellow TCAS FAIL or TD FAIL message on both MFD.

    ATC1 / ATC2 selection ............................................................................................... 1 to 2 or 2 to 1

If the message is still in view :

    LOSS OF RESOLUTION ADVISORIES INFORMATION

Yellow RA FAIL message on both PFD and MFD.

    NORMAL PROCEDURES

    TCAS II OPERATION

General information- The INCREASE CLIMB RA is de-activated when the slat-flap handle is in the 40 FLAPS +SLATS

position; in this case the CLIMB RA remains annunciated for advisory only.

    - Compliance with a TCAS II resolution (RA) is necessary unless the pilot considers it unsafe to doso, or unless the pilot has better information about the cause of the RA and can maintain safeseparation from a nearby airplane, obvious TCAS II system failure, etc.

    - The pilot should not initiate evasive maneuvers using information from the traffic display only or ona traffic advisory (TA) only without visually sighting the traffic. These displays and advisories areintended only for assistance in visually locating the traffic and lack of flight path trends necessaryfor use in evasive maneuvering. However, while climbing or descending, modest change in vertical speed based on traffic display

information is not considered evasive maneuvering.RESOLUTION ADVISORY

In case of resolution advisories (RAs) or suddent reversion of RAs sense:Disconnect the autopilot.

Promptly and smoothly perform the evasive maneuver.

If the stall, GPWS or windshear occurs:

    Immediately stop the evasive maneuver.

Perform the procedure corresponding to the warning in progress.

    CAUTION

Once an RA has been issued, safe separation could be compromised if current vertical speedis changed, except as necessary to comply with the RA.This is because TCAS II - to TCAS II coordination may be in progress with the intruderairplane, and any change in vertical speed that does not comply with the RA may negate theeffectiveness of the other airplane's compliance with the RA.
