• Available in 7 languages
– Chinese, French, German, Italian, Indonesian,
Japanese and Spanish
• On the concept of “At a Juice Bar’
• Include 10 lessons
• Most suitable for schools who offer Languages
programs once a week
• For students from Foundation to Year 2
Unit of Work – Chinese
Was designed to support students to be able to order a juice from the
Juice Bar using Chinese
The range of experiences through the unit is to scaffold and build
towards this purposeful goal
Structure of the Unit
The 10 lessons are organised into a coherent structure
The lesson content is overlapped
Interdisciplinary connections are reflected

Activity1: Sorting
Learning Intention– To enhance higher-order thinking skills through
learning of Chinese
Success Criteria – To be able to sort food items into different groups
and to introduce key language of healthy/unhealthy
light /dark colour warm/cool colour healthy/unhealthy
Activity2: Fruit Survey
Learning Intention– To express simple likes and dislikes in Chinese and
explain the reason
Success Criteria– Students can work in pairs and share their preferences of
fruits

Activity 3: Popular juice in our class
Learning Intention- To maximise learning through a cross-curricular
approach of doing maths in Chinese class
Success Criteria – Students can collect data from the whole class
and represent it in a bar graph
Activity 4 : Create a juice bar menu
Learning Intention— To develop writing skills by creating simple informative
and imaginative texts and to encourage creativity in Chinese class
Success Criteria– Students can design and create a menu for the pop-up
juice bar
Activity 5: Role play
Learning Intention— To apply language and intercultural knowledge and skills into a
real-life situation and to encourage collaboration in Chinese class
Success Criteria– Students can perform their role play of ‘I Like Juice Bar’ story
