Managing the Game

Umpires presentation – Ray O’Connor

Registration Process E-Sports Manager(previously IHALink) is the database of

record All players must be registered on E-Sports Manager to play in

IHA Competitions Reminder on key eligibility rules

Bone fide member of your club and registered on E-Sports Manager New players to your club must have played by 31st December Players coming from outside of Hockey Ireland need an No Objection

Release Form completed by old club or National Association and emailed to Hockey Office prior to completion of a transfer

Two objectives for IHLWG: Automate the process to minimise the amount of work and speedy

turnaround of the process – we have double weekends to cater for Note: this work is being done by volunteers! Help clubs avoid inadvertent errors by playing an ineligible player

Registration Process – cont’d Prior to each match, each club creates and prints a Teamlist

by selecting players and adding their shirt number to the list Same list can be sent to the Home club for their program and also to the

MTA, if requested for in advance of the game

Club must give the Teamlist to the MTA prior to the match After the match the MTA will photo and return all paperwork to

the Registration Secretary Signed and completed Match Card (or consolidated Teamlists from both

teams) Any discipline paperwork

The Registration Secretary will confirm all players who played in the game and record any discipline actions

Note: your branch requires you to also take a photo of the match card so they can manage branch registration

Registration Process – Club Actions

Ensure all players are on E-Sports Manager and meet the IHL eligibility rules Remove any duplicate names to avoid issues Ensure all player data fields are complete

Complete transfers early – co-operate with each other Exiting club must complete by Friday 10am

Pitch and Lighting Standards Two key objectives of the IHLWG:

Educate the top clubs on the standards of facilities recommendations for ‘Class 1’ hockey – as defined by the FIH

Seek to ensure wider coverage of clubs attaining the recommendations over the early seasons

Lighting Recommended FIH Standard is > 500 Lux Lighting deteriorates over time – need to test regularly Older systems, installed at 500 lux are unlikely to still be at that level We will work towards all clubs needing to provide an annual certificate

and standard report of lighting quality

What clubs need to do? Have your lights tested, especially if older than 2010 Depending on the results, you may need to adjust match start times to

ensure the match concludes in daylight If lighting is below the recommended standard, start to plan an upgrade

plan and be aware of the information above

Pitch and Lighting Standards (cont’d) Pitch

Preference is for all EYHL games to be played on water-based pitches and if not, that the pitch is sand-dressed

However, equally important to ensure the game is planned in as many locations as possible

What clubs need to do? If your home pitch is of poor quality, consider options for using an

alternative venue for home matches

Match Times Any match times through to Christmas not yet fixed – need to be

done today before leaving

Once times agreed between both clubs, the home club needs to add the details to E-Sports Manager Match times through to Christmas need to be on the system by Friday 11th

September latest, post Christmas times on system by 31st December Note: the times are available on the web to the Appointments, Media and

Spectators alike – they need to be accurate and not subject to change

Match times CANNOT be changed without contacting the Fixtures Secretary, Victor Shaw, [email protected] General guidance: Cannot change within 2 weeks of the game as all appointments already done Cannot change unless by agreement of both clubs and it also works without

disruption to the Umpire appointments

Match Times - Regulations Must be played on the weekend scheduled with Friday nights,

Saturday and Sunday available, except: Where advised, e.g. Double weekend, when day is then stipulated Where Sunday is a HP training date and one/both teams have HP players,

in which case the Sunday is not an option unless teams agree

Setting the time is guided by where both teams are from: In Province (both teams from same Province)
