The brows frame the face to perfection, open the eyes, balance the features and shave (or should we say pluck) years off the appearance. Director and chief brow artist Svetlana Burckhardt, of Woollahra-based salon Eyebrow Experts, says a love and appreciation of the littler locks is essential to the beauty regime. “People so often neglect eyebrows in their grooming regime and it’s a big mistake,” she said. “They are so, so important and can conceal or draw attention away from facial flaws. If they are done professionally and are symmetrical, they are as powerful as a facelift.” But, be warned. Choose your beautician carefully. “A good aesthetician will work with you to create the perfect arch for you,” Burckhardt says. “I ask questions to find out exactly what the client is trying to achieve, whether it’s growing brows back in, or creating a finer, more contoured shape. Personally, I don’t believe people should blindly follow brow trends. The thickness or thinness of your eyebrows should be tailored to your face and personality.” For more information, visit eyebrowexperts.com. Then you can maintain with regular trimming and plucking between the brows and below the bottom of each eyebrow. You do not have to remove all hairs. Some fine, short hairs between the brows give a natural appearance. But make sure you get the thick ones! Do not go overboard and, if you are not confident, leave it to the experts. FOR THE GUYS: Visit an expert for your initial shape. Maintain by plucking any hairs that grow outside this shape. PERSONAL GEMSYDNEY TOWER RUN UPDATE: WEEK 12 Well folks, this is it. The final week! Three months ago I agreed to partake in an exercise regime that would help me climb to the top of Sydney Tower – and now the time has nearly come. It’s almost over! In preparation, I’ve climbed thousands of steps, lifted many a weight and complained far too much. I am so nervous. I’ve never taken part in any type of fitness event, so fear of the unknown is probably my worst enemy

right now (apart from Thomas Dold!). I fear that I’ll struggle so badly up those narrow steps that John will have to drag me up – with my little NINETOFIVE visor clutched in my hands, clinging to dear life. So if you see me this Friday, come and say hello – it will be nice to know I’m not alone. So, will I beat my running nemesis Thomas Dold? Will I prevail? Will I run like the wind and climb like a mountain goat? Or will I fail miserably? Visit exercisesydney.com.au. and sydneytowerrunup.com.au.

AGONY AUNTMANISH SHAHDENTIST BDS (HONS)(SYD), MBBS (SYD)(SMILECONCEPTS.COM.AU)

Dear Agony Aunt, How do I get rid of bad breath? Sometimes I get it straight after eating chocolate or coffee, but at other times I have no idea why I

get it, please help me !x this? Stinky, Merrylands.Manish says: Dear Stinky,Bad breath is caused by many things. What you eat affects the air you exhale. The main daily culprits of bad breath are dairy products such as cheese and milk which are a protein source for bad breath bacteria. If you don’t brush and "oss daily, particles of food remain in the mouth and rots, leaving an

unpleasant odour. Bad breath can also be caused by dry mouth (xerostomia) or by using tobacco products. The most common cause includes bleeding gums that may be a sign of periodontal disease. You should get yourself checked out by a dentist.Do you have a question? Send it to edsinbox@nineto!ve.com.au.
