Summer 2012
The reunion season this past year was filled with several amazing events so we’ve added some
pictures for you to enjoy on subsequent pages. The Classes of 1991, 2001, and 2006 all had
social events that were fun and entertaining. As this newsletter is written, the class of ‘82 has a
30th reunion scheduled for Oct. 6 at the Lookout Heights Civic Club. The Class of 1987 has a
25th reunion planned for Brookwood Swim Club on July 21 plus a Cincinnati Reds baseball
game. The Class of 1992 will host its 20 year reunion at the Fort Wright Civic Club on Oct 6.
The Class of 1997 has all the details set for their reunion weekend with multiple events. The
main event will be on Aug. 11 at Leaping Lizard. Molly Malone’s will host the 2002 reunion
on Aug. 18. The Class of 2006 has already enjoyed an informal reunion on Aug. 12 also at
Molly Malone’s. The Class of 2007 enjoyed their reunion at Legends on May 19. For addi-

Enjoying the 2006 Five-Year Reunion
Jerry Mohr, who excelled as Scott’s cross country, swimming, and track coaches for many
years (in addition to being aquatics director), is retiring to spend more time with his family.
Jerry will finish the upcoming cross country season before leaving his home at Scott. He
has been an integral part of the Scott family and he will be missed. Debbie Hecky, math
teacher and National Honor Society sponsor, will retire will in the Fall as well. Her work
on behalf of Scott students is appreciated. Also on the list are Terri Mitsch, Linda Wash-
nock, and Susan Faris as retirees. Those leaving Scott but not having retired include:
John Slone, Brad Carr, Dave Campbell, and Tim Boggs. Congratulations to John Slone
who became a principal elsewhere and Dave Campbell who became the assistant principal
at Woodland.
There was a Girls Softball alumni game on July 14. Pictures will follow in our next news-
letter. The Boys Soccer Alumni has plans to play a match on August 4 at 5 pm. .
There will be a dinner after the match.

The Association has made improvements such as incorporating the organi-
zation and creating the association’s website (scotthighschoolalumni.org).
The Alumni Association has an active presence on Facebook. The Board
has an alumni golf outing at the Kenton County Willows Golf Course
for Sept. 15 at a very reasonable price. Come out and have some fun!

Jimmy Knipp (‘80) it is sad to note that Jimmy has passed away.
Adelaide Martin McManus(‘81) has lost her battle with cancer. Our condolences. See
www.scotthighschoolalumni.org for more information. Amy Beckham Foster (‘82) married Kelly Foster (‘84) in June. Our best wishes.
Robert (Robbie) Baker (‘83) graduated from EKU in Business Administration, is married to
Christy with two daughters, Meagan who is 9 and Ryan who is 6.
Blaine Holtkamp (‘84) attended Morehead State, moved to Los Angeles to work with Dis-
ney MGM, and is currently at Twentieth Century.
Amy Lirely (‘85) graduated from NKU with a B.S. in Biology and her R.N. degree.
Stephanie Slater Roberts (‘86) graduated from U.L. in Industrial Engineering, lives in Lou-
isville, and works at Universal Woods Incorporated.
Matt Logsdon (‘87) received a AA in Biblical Studies from Christian Christian University, a
B.A. in Literature from NKU and an M.A. in Secondary Education from UK. He married
Tresine Tatum on Nov. 16, 2001 and teaches at Henry Clay High School.
Amy Pohlgeers (‘88) graduated with a B.S. in Industrial Relations from NKU and has been
at Procter and Gamble for 17 years.
Ritchie Day (‘88) has unfortunately departed. He will be missed. See scot-
thighschoolalumni.org for more. Brian Underwood (‘89) received his B.A. and M.Ed from NKU, is married to Susan, has
two children (Solana 5 and Braylen 2.5, plus currently teaches at Milford Senior High School.
Cathy Walker Hurley(‘90) graduated from NKU, married Joe Hurley. They have a son,
Danny (4) and she owns Talk 1, a full service advertising agency.
Doug Buerger (‘91) Received a degree in Aeronautical Engineering and is working on his
Masters in Systems Engineering in the Naval Postgraduate School.
Shawna Southwick Fox (‘92) received a B.A. degree from U.C. She is working on her
graduate degree in Public Health Education.
Jeff Wagner (‘92) has passed away. Our sympathies to the family and friends. See scot-

Walter Hyden (‘93) had an accident take his life. How unfortunate. See scot-

Julie Owens (‘94) graduated from Beckfield College and then NKU for a BCN in 1997. She
currently works for St. Elizabeth Healthcare as an L&D nurse.
Margaret Hoffman Wiggins (‘95) earned her degree in Special Education from NKU.
Teaching at Ryland, she is married to Randy and their children are Thomas, a fifth grader,
Carson and Catherine, 6 years old, and Allison, who is 6 months old.
Shauna Yeager Dynes (‘96) received her B.A. in 2000 from EKU in Political Science,
married Michael Dynes, and they have three kids; Noah (10), Gabriel (8), and Avery (3).
Amy Moore (‘97) studied business administration at Thomas More and got her education
certification at NKU. Currently is working at Fidelity and is engaged to Joe Bulach.
Robby Messmer (‘98) graduated from Western Kentucky University in Organizational Com-
munications, married Alissa Vice, has a son (Gentry), and works at 2020 Companies.
Danielle Verst Ashley(‘99) graduated from Thomas More in 2004, married Zach, has 3 chil-
dren (Ana, Elli, and Olivia) and is expecting a fourth girl in August.
Amanda Robinson(‘00) completed her B.S. degree in Biology from N.K.U. She has just
completed her first year of pharmacy school.
T.J. Phillips (‘00) married Michelle on June 23rd. See scotthighschoolalumni.org for details.
Tristan Berry (‘01) has departed. Our heartfelt regrets on his passing.
Stephanie Goetz(‘02) graduated from Centre College in 2006, received an MPH at Columbia
University and followed that with an MPA from also from Columbia. She worked with the
Peace Corps, international development, and currently works with Charity:Water.
Chelsea Cooper (‘03) graduated from Thomas More with degrees in Psychology and Sociol-
ogy. She is an addictions counselor.
Kendall Blair (‘04) is a reporter for WCPO. television after having worked in the Atlanta
Market last year.
Tim Murray(‘05) graduated with a B.S from EKU, got his MS from Murray in ‘11 and is an
athletic trainer in Central Kentucky.
Kortni Dukes Danks (‘06) just received her Master’s in Elementary Education and was hired
to teach at Kenton Elementary.
Brittany Buechel Brown (‘07) graduated from Thomas More with a B.S. in Nursing in 2011
and married Josh Brown on June 18, 2012, in Gatlinburg.
Sarah Houseman (‘08) graduated from UK with a degree in Political Science and will attend
law school this Fall.
Matt Battista (‘08) is engaged to marry Mylia Hanks in November.
Jacklyn Sampson (‘08) graduated from NKU with a B.A. and has begun pharmacy school.
Jerrica Maddox (‘08) married Drew Harris on July 7.
Curtis Spencer (‘08) has a degree in Business Management from Morehead, married Alicia,
and has been deployed to Afghanistan.
Alumni Information and Services
The alumni association provides a locator service, reunion help, special events and class news
through scotthighschoolalumni.org, the “Scott High School Eagles Alumni” page on Facebook
and the newsletter. Members are asked to send news as it’s available. We would like to keep
up with your changes, jobs, graduations, births, weddings, etc. Please encourage others to join;
the larger the membership, the more we can do!

The athletic department has approved alumni association members attending all Scott regular
season athletic events at no charge. You must present your membership card which proves
you have paid your dues for this year.
The Association provides a website (www.scotthighschoolalumni.), plus a strong presence
on Facebook and Twitter. The Board produced a multi-class reunion/roast and assists with
class reunions, social events, improvements such as incorporating the organization and cre-
ating the association’s website. Support is given for charitable causes and alumni games.
