COURSE DESCRIPTIONExtremities in the Carolinas: Trauma for General Orthopedics is an advanced course for physician assistants and nurse practicioners who treat traumatic injuries of the extremities in adults and children. This course teaches the principles and techniques for management of extremity trauma and current concepts in surgical and non-surgical management.

COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVESUpon conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:

• Examine and apply basic scientific information and technical skills in orthopedic trauma

• Update knowledge regarding current evaluation and treatment of orthopedic trauma of the upper and lower extremities

• Review current practice management including proper coding, reimbursement, and state/national healthcare trends

• Develop new clinical and technical skills to improve delivery of healthcare to patients with upper and/or lower extremity trauma

INTENDED AUDIENCEPhysician assistants and nurse practicioners who practice in general orthopedics.

CREDITThis program is provided by Physician Assistants in Orthopaedic Surgery. This activity was planned in accordance with AAPA CME Standards for Live Programs and for Commercial Support of Live Programs.

This activity has been reviewed by the AAPA Review Panel and is compliant with AAPA CME criteria. This activity is designated for 19.00 AAPA Category I CME Credits. PAs should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation.

The online quiz to accompany program is not yet approved for CME credit. Conference organizers plan to request a maximum of 5 AAPA Category I CME Self Assessment Credits from the AAPA Review Panel. The total number of approved credits is yet to be determined

*NPs can often claim AAPA Category I CME credit as continuing education with AANP & ANCC. PAOS recommnds that NPs check with their certification/licensing authority to confrm that AAPA credit is acceptable

GRANTS & EXHIBITSAppropriate acknowledgement will be given to all supporters at the time of the meeting. Exhibits will be available for viewing at all scheduled breaks.

FACULTY DISCLOSUREThe American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) has implemented a process to identify and resolve conflicts of interest that may exist which might affect the independence and fair balance of an educational activity. PAOS is not responsible for expenses incurred by an individual who is not confirmed and for whom space is not available at the meeting.
