    BUILDINGS.Our buildings insurance provides wide-ranging cover for the structureof your home, including its permanent xtures and ttings.

    For ull details about your cover and the exclusions see section 1 o the policy booklet that

    OPTIONAL EXTENDED ACCIDENTAL DAMAGE COVER

    For an additional premium, we will also cover extended accidental damage such as

    banging a nail through a pipe or putting your oot through the ceiling while you arein the lot. See What is not covered on page 4 or some o the exclusions and excesses.

    We will insure your home against loss or

    damage rom many causes, including but

    not limited to:

    fre, smoke, explosion, lightning

    or earthquake;

    malicious acts or vandalism;

    storm or ood;

    subsidence, heave or landslip;

    thet or attempted thet;

    escape o water and leakage o oil; and

    alling trees.

    WHAT IS COVERED

    We also cover:

    Accidental damage to underground pipes

    or cables serving your home.

    Accidental breakage o fxed glass and

    fxed sanitaryware.

    Your legal liability as owner o the

    property or injury or damage to others

    or or damage to their property, up to a

    maximum o 2 million or a single claim.

    We do not cover your liability as an

    occupier or your personal liability

    under this section, although we do

    oer this cover as standard in our

    contents insurance.

    We will insure your contents against loss

    or damage rom many causes, including

    but not limited to:

    fre, smoke, explosion, lightning or

    earthquake;

    malicious acts or vandalism;

    storm or ood;

    thet or attempted thet;

    escape o water and leakage o oil; and

    alling trees.

    WHAT IS COVERED

    OPTIONAL EXTENDED ACCIDENTAL DAMAGE COVER

    We also cover:

    cover them in total or up to 10% o your

    contents sum insured and up to 5% or

    a single item, pair or set.

    Accidental breakage o mirrors and fxed

    glass in urniture.

    Your legal liability as a home occupier

    or injury to others or damage to their

    property. We also cover your legal

    liability as a private individual anywhere

    in the world. We will pay up to 2 million

    or a single claim.

    Your legal liability as an employer o

    domestic sta at your home. We will pay

    up to 5 million or a single claim.

    We also include cover for: High risk property like jewellery,

    pictures, works o art and stamp and

    coin collections. We will cover them in

    total or up to 33% o your contents sum

    insured (minimum 14,000) and up to 5%

    o your contents sum insured (minimum

    2,000) or a single item, pair or set.

    Alternative accommodation costs i

    you have to temporarily move out

    o your home because o an insuredevent, up to 25% o your contents sum

    insured (minimum 10,000).

    Contents in the garden, within your

    homes boundaries up to 1,000.

    Thet or attempted thet rom your

    garage or domestic outbuildings up

    PERSONALPOSSESSIONS INAND AWAY FROMYOUR HOME.If you insure your homes contents with us, you can also choose toinsure your personal possessions. We will cover them against lossor damage, both at your home and away from it. Cover will applyanywhere in the UK and for up to 60 days in any insurance year forthe rest of the world.

    There are our categories o cover:

    1. Personal property

    We will cover loss or damage to clothing,

    personal belongings and valuables

    that you normally wear or carry. We

    will provide cover up to 1,500 or each

    article, pair or set. You will have to

    speciy any items you use or business,

    because we do not automatically

    cover them.

    2. Personal money

    We will automatically cover up to 500 i

    you choose cover or personal property.

    3. Pedal cycles

    We will cover loss or damage up to

    500 per pedal cycle. We may insure

    cycles worth more than the limit i you

    provide us with the make, model and

    rame number.

    4. Specied articles

    We will cover loss or damage to

    specifed single articles, pairs or sets.

    A policy excess o 100 or each claim.

    Wear and tear or damage that

    happens gradually over a period

    o time.

    Any amount over 2,000 or losses

    rom unattended vehicles.

    Thet rom an unattended vehicle

    unless it is securely locked andthe property is hidden in a glove

    compartment, locked luggage

    compartment or locked boot.

    The costs o replacing any

    undamaged or unbroken item or

    parts o items orming part o a

    set, suite or other article o uniorm

    nature, colour or design i damage

    occurs within a clearly identifable

    area or to a specifc part and it is notpossible to match replacements.

    We will automatically adjust the sums

    insured in line with ination, except

    or personal money. However, some

    things such as jewellery, increase or

    decrease in value at a dierent rate,

    so it is a good idea to have them

    proessionally valued regularly.

    If you claim, you will need to

    show us a receipt, proof of

    purchase or a professional

    valuation pre-dating your loss.If you cannot, we may reduce the

    your own personal use.

    A breach o your employment

    contract.

    You will be covered or the costs o

    A motoring prosecution brought

    CARAVAN.If you insure your homes contents with us, you can also choosecaravan cover.

    We will cover loss or damage to your

    caravan, including its fxtures and

    fttings. Our cover applies anywhere in

    the UK and or up to 60 days each year

    in Europe.

    We settle claims on the cost o repair or

    your caravans market value. I the cost

    o repair exceeds the market value and

    your caravan is less than a year old, we

    will pay its replacement cost.

    We also cover:

    up to 250 towing and delivery costs;

    up to 30 days alternative

    accommodation cover, up to

    20 a day;

    legal liability cover up to 2 million;

    and

    up to 200 or clothing and personal

    articles while they are in the caravan.

    A policy excess o 100 or any claim.

    Thet o or loss rom empty caravans

    which are not properly secured.

    Damage to tyres due to braking,

    punctures, cuts or bursts.

    Caravans rented out or money or

    other reward.

    I your caravan is on a fxed site and has

    not been lived in or more than 30 days

    at the time o loss or damage, we will

    not cover loss or damage caused by:

    malicious acts or vandalism;

    thet or attempted thet;

    escape o water or rost damage; or

    breakage o fxed glazing or

    sanitaryware. Thet or attempted thet i the caravan

    has been let unhitched rom a towing

    vehicle or more than eight hours unless

    it is secured with a hitchlock, wheel

    clamp or any other protection that we

    have agreed.

    The costs o replacing any undamaged

    or unbroken item or parts o items

    orming part o a set, suite or other

    article o uniorm nature, colour ordesign i damage occurs within a clearly

    identifable area or to a specifc part and

    it is not possible to match replacements.

    IMPORTANTINFORMATION.CANCELLATION

    Our cancellation rights

    i) I you commit raud or attempt to

    commit raud, we will cancel your

    policy without any reund o premium.

    ii) I we do not receive the ull premiumwhen due, we will cancel your policy

    and your cover will only be in orce

    or the proportional period or which

    we have received payment. I we do

    not receive the ull premium when

    due and you have made a claim in

    the current period o insurance, you

    must pay the ull annual premium

    and no reund is due. We have the

    right to deduct all unpaid instalmentsand any outstanding premium rom

    any claim that we may pay.

    iii) We may cancel your policy by

    sending you 14 days written

    notice to your most recent address

    known to us i any o the ollowing

    circumstances occur:

    You ail to carry out any

    reasonable recommendations we

    make to prevent loss or damageto the insured property.

    You do not make good any

    damage to the insured property

    without delay and this increases

    the possibility o material loss,

    damage or injury.

    You ail to maintain the buildings

    in sound condition and in good

    repair. I you are unsure as to the

    condition o your property, you

    should consult a suitably

    qualifed expert.

    There is a change in the

    inormation provided by you

    which increases the possibility o

    material loss, damage or injury.

    Any unreasonable behaviour

    by you including but not limited

    to abuse, oensive and/or

    threatening language or action.

    I we cancel your policy in

    accordance with iii), we will reund

    any premium you have paid or

    the period o unused cover rom

    the date that the 14 days written

    notice expires.

    Your cancellation rights

    You may cancel this policy at any time.

    i) I you have not made a claim in the

    current period o insurance, you may

    cancel this policy at any time and we

    will reund the premium paid or the

    period o unused cover.

    ii) I you have made a claim in the

    current period o insurance: You may cancel the policy

    within 14 days o receiving the

    policy documents or o the start

    or renewal date o the policy

    (whichever is later) and we will

    reund the premium paid or the

    period o unused cover.

    You may cancel the policy

    ater 14 days o receiving the

    policy documents or o the startor renewal date o the policy

    (whichever is later), but no reund

    o premium will be due.

    FINANCIAL SERVICES

    COMPENSATION SCHEME

    The Financial Services Compensation

    Scheme (FSCS) is designed to pay

    customers compensation i they

    lose money because a frm is unable

    to pay them what they owe or any

    reason. Your ability to claim rom the

    scheme and the amount you may be

    entitled to will depend on the specifc

    circumstances o your claim.

    Most customers, including most

    individuals and small businesses, are

    covered by the scheme. You can fnd

    PREMIUMDISCOUNTS.

    HOME INSURANCE EXTRA PREMIUM DISCOUNTS

    The information below shows the discounts we can offer on yourhome insurance premium.

    I you have held home insurance beore,

    you may qualiy or a no claims discount.

    At renewal we will recalculate your

    premium taking into account a range o

    actors including your claims experience

    and the eect this has had on any

    no claims discount.

    We oer reduced buildings and contents

    insurance premiums i you select a

    voluntary excess. You can choose an

    additional 50, 100, 150, 200 or 250

    voluntary excess. This would apply in

    addition to the 100 policy excess or

    250 excess or claims or escapeo water.

    There is a minimum excess o 1,000

    on claims or subsidence on buildings

    insurance.

    You may save money by insuring your

    buildings and contents under a single

    policy compared to purchasing

    them separately.

    17 HOME INSURANCE EXTRA MINIMUM STANDARDS OF SECURITY

    I Minimum standards o security applies,

    we will not cover your contents or personal

    possessions or thet or attempted thet

    rom your home unless:

    a) All easy to reach windows or openings

    someone could get in through are ftted

    with key operated locks. This includes all

    windows, skylights and other openings

    that are accessible rom ground level or

    without the use o a ladder, such as rom

    a balcony, porch, single storey extension

    or next to a drainpipe.

    b) The last door you use when leaving your

    home is secured by either:

    a lock certifed to British Standard

    BS3621. (A lock certifed to British

    Standard BS8621 is acceptable or ats

    or maisonettes above ground level to

    meet fre saety recommendations); or

    a multi point locking system with

    a minimum o three locking points.

    c) External sliding doors are secured by

    anti lit devices and either:

    a hook lock certifed to British

    Standard BS3621;

    a multi point locking system with a

    minimum o three locking points; or

    any lock plus two internal key operated

    patio door locks or key locking bolts at

    the top and bottom.

    MINIMUMSTANDARDS OFSECURITY.

    When you insure contents, in certain circumstances (such as if your homeis in a particular area), we will add the following Minimum standards of

    security endorsement (PY01) to your policy. If it applies, this endorsementwill be shown on your policy schedule that we will send you when yourcover starts.

    d) External double doors are secured

    as ollows:

    The frst closing door is secured both

    at the top and bottom with either:

    key operated security bolts that

    operate vertically into the door rame;

    or

    ush bolts mounted on the door edge

    and concealed when doors

    are closed.

    The second closing door is secured

    with either:

    a lock certifed to British StandardBS3621;

    a multi point locking system with a

    minimum o three locking points; or

    any lock plus key operated security

    bolts that operate vertically into the

    door rame at the top and bottom.

    e) All other external doors, including doors

    accessing the private dwelling rom a

    garage need to be secured either:

    as stated in (b); or by any lock plus internal key operated

    security bolts at the top and bottom.

    ) Garages and outbuildings are ftted with

    a key operated lock or locking system.

    g) Immediately beore you go to bed all the

    window and door locks and bolts ftted

    to your home, other than or windows in
