This will also aim to support the hypothesis of Facebook entering the market successfully by

conforming to Chinas laws and regulations or changing the face of Chinas Market altogether.

Executive Summary

One of the world's largest internet markets could be out of reach of Facebook because of the

Chinese government's strict censorship policies and tight regulation on internet use for

Facebook and other social networking sites. The China market, which already has popular

home social networking sites; dont want to open its market for Facebook to enter.

Gossip on Facebook entering the Chinese market started in late 2010 when the company's

CEO Mark Zuckerberg visited several major IT firms in the country. To enter the country's

market Facebook would have to abide by China's censorship laws, which force sites to delete

content critical of the government welfare if need it. Besides Facebook, some other Internet

sites like YouTube, Twitter and MySpace are currently blocked in the country as well.

In spite of being blocked in the country, Facebook still has successful story to tell. Recently,

Facebook open their largest valuation to date for a newly listed public company in the

information technology world. Also, Facebook bought several small companies to increase their

revenue share and competitive edge in the social media market. All these great accomplishment

that recently happen this year doesnt make China open their regulation policies.

When determining should Facebook enter to China market, there are several key challenges

they will seek. Facebook would face the same factors that have led to the failure of many

foreign Internet companies in China such as: local competition, murky government...

and flip it on its head and say maybe socially damaging movements can gain support too.

Example a knife can be used to cut vegeatables or kill a person. Should it be
